Where do I go from here, keep it clean Looks like an excellent system, Nrchy.I think that the best way of answering the question is to find out what areas of improvement, if any, you are looking for. Asking us is fine, but without a compass to lead us, you could get a lot of informatio...

Comparison of Tube Output CD Players Howard, thank you for your insightful comments on the Audio Aero players! You have really laid a lot of information out, in concise, understandable, clear and descriptive terms. Regardless of whether or not you can talk "audiospeak", you have done...

What happens to speakers over time? I would like to say that I recently discovered all too well that not only do butyl rubber surrounds break down, they do so with very little in the way of being obvious. While there are those who say that it will not, I am on the other side of the ...
Amp for Quad ESL 57? You would think the Quad amplifier suggestion has to be a good one.Ed, I do have to say that I am unsure if you can find a more reliable amplifier than the Atma Spheres. The tubes last a long, long, long time (Ralph has an M60 with over 20 years o...
How's this for a dose of reality??? While it sounds like it was said long ago, Art Dudley basically rattled a fair amount of this stuff off point for point when we met him this year. Especially when it comes to the audio magazines handling the product reviews with kid gloves.

A scary thought from Ellery911 A few years ago, Jadis was complaining that a lot of Jadis knockoffs were being sold in the Far East. They issued some statements telling audiophiles to stay away from Jadis monoblocks being sold out of Hong Kong for very low prices.Personally, th...
SimAudio Moon Orbiter Universal Player Thanks, Merlocpm!$6500 does not seem out of line with other high end universal players. Wonder it sounds good, as SimAudio seems like a decent company, with a good track record.
What makes a system compelling? The answer lies between a person's ears, and in their heart and soul! For each of us, it is a different thing. Some want excitement, some want liquidity. Some want bass, some want treble, and others want midrange. The answer is reflected in the var...
ESS and Heil air-motion tranformer - any thoughts? I have a pair of them in my family room, in the corners. They're my father's, and that's what the conventional wisdom of the day told one to place the speakers. The woofers are now suffering from rotted foam, for the second time. He bought some wo...
SimAudio Moon Orbiter Universal Player Radknee, what is the price of this new SimAudio?
new gear vs used gear I'm also basically 50% new, 50% used.
Why do only US makers focus on time coherency? Shayne, didn't JAs analysis in a Stereophile write up show the JMlabs were actually NOT time coherent, despite being advertised as such?I know Richard Vandersteen, as well as Bud Fried, are very adamant as to the importance of time coherence. |
