History of Plasma TV's?
In the early 1990s, I created a mixed metallo-organic/cermet silver to be used as the conductors in the plasma screens for the television technology that was being developed in Japan. Interestingly, the different parts of the technology (tuners, s...
Sibilant test ? "Trust in Me"
Gonna be hard to top that one, Timrhu. Thank you!
Dreadnaught a Bit Bright?
One caution I would like to raise is that a true authority on amplifiers has recently asserted to me that he can demonstrate how big solid state amps turn bright when they are current starved. If the IC recommendations do not pan out for you, try ...
entry level cables and Audioholics
I know reference level interconnects that cost $99. Really. They compete with anything out there. In fact, they are EXACTLY the same as a highly regarded cable that sells for $1400. However, I see you getting bogged down in specs and measurements....
entry level cables and Audioholics
This is just one man's opinion, but I don't really recommend getting heavy into cable until the system gets to the point where it warrants spending some actual money beyond Radio Shack (or the like - AR, Monster, etc.) cabling. You have a nice CD p...
Thiel and tubes
Yes, the Rogues with the Thiels were at John McAlpin's home. Most excellent sound, John! I am always more impressed at people who achieve such sound via system synergy and spending time and effort as opposed to those who simply throw tens of thous...
Thiel and tubes
Zaikesman, if I didn't hear it myself, I would have read a post about this combination with a jaundiced eye. After what I have heard over the past few years using Rogues, including some past NYC HE Shows (using Audio Physic, Meadowlark, and Vanders...
Thiel and tubes
One of the most involving systems I heard in the past year was a pair of Thiel 3.6 (I think) driven by a Rogue Zeus power amp/Rogue Magnum 99 preamp. Front end was an Electrocompaniet CD player.Over the past few years, I have kind of walked away f...
Clean and thin sounding interconnect?
Musical Fidelity NuVista sounds like what you are looking for. Very open and neutral, leaning towards thin, especially in the lower registers.
Best of Audiogon Members
Viridian is my favorite member. His humor is beyond hysterical. My only question is, who's going to pay for my next heria surgery?

Interesting point, Stehno!
Thanks to Agon members and Agon staff.........
Classy thread, Dan. Thank you for initiating it!
Apple or PC?
Brimac, thank you for your input. It's great to see an Apple dealer here. That being said, I love my Dell! However, for me, it's not as simple as that. I use a PC, which also runs MVS (IBM Mainframe) and a Sun Solaris Workstation (Solaris 9 - UNIX)...
tube amplifier auto bias- accurate?
Bin, please see my comments above, which is my opinion of Eldartford being "one of the most knowledgeable here on tube amps".
Paint Removal?
Just out of curiousity, did you try the Holly Cole or Patricia Barber? And, if so, did it work?
