Speaker system
Welcome, @dvij, and thank you for starting a most amusing thread. Your question is akin to a learner-driver walking into a racing drivers' meeting uninvited and asking, "hi guys, I'm having trouble making a full U-turn quickly in traffic. A buddy ...

Funk Firm Sapphire or Vector. Form follows function.
Let me end the Premp/Amplifier sound debate ...
Strangely enough, only yesterday was I reading through the Restek website (the manufacturer of my pre-amp). What CEO Adrianus Elschot  writes makes a lot of sense (copy/paste the German into Google Translate): while they do measure their equipment...
REEL TO REEL TAPE?
I can vouch for RTM, excellent tape.   Between RTM and ATR I'd go with the one that's easiest for you to obtain. They are both very good.
Law of Accelerated Returns
This is an interesting discussion, mainly because it so well illustrates the essence of Audiogon as a forum. We have: Someone stating an observation @ghdprentice  Many contributors adding valid points to the discussion @tablejockey @onhwy61 @m...
Protecting Equipment from Children
@geof3 Spot on! "Constant surveillance", "firm NO".   Worked for me, with two boys, up to a point: during a house move (we'd been there 16 years) we packed up my B&W 801M2s. As one of the speakers was wrapped up by the movers, a Titleist DT ...

Underpowered?
@dridel Congratulations on your new speakers!    I grappled with a similar problem over the past three years. Having moved to a new house my B&W801M S2s didn't sound the way they used to. I upgraded the XOs, then the preamp. Had my Krell KSA...
Do I need a subwoofer?
@olfac87 Hi, I'm a long-time lurker here. Your post prompted me to respond as I went through a similar thought-process recently. I have owned a pair of B&W 801 Series 2 since the early 90s. These are fantastic speakers. Those who say B&W s...
Rolling Stones Stripped LP versus Totally Stripped vinyl LP
Following...Watched the Sky Arts documentary on the production process used for the 95 LP set a couple of evenings ago. Lots of small venues were used with close miking. The interaction between the Stones and the audience at close quarters was fas...
Are there any parts available for the B & W 801 series 2?
I upgraded my 801 S2s with these XOs:  (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B-W-801-802-S2-matrix-Speakers-cross-over-full-upgrade-service-Each-/1643...). Very happy with the result. Be careful: delivery was VERY slow. Inquire before purchase.
Vintage vs New
In 2019, before lockdown, I was in a similar position. Having owned a pair of B&W 801 Matrix S2s (with upgraded XOs) for 28 years, I felt an itch I needed to scratch and went to my local dealer in Belfast to listen to KEF R11 which had just co...
Looking for a CD player
Check out the Denon DCD-1600. Built like a tank, excellent DAC, about $1,200 with a 5yr warranty. I bought it because I wanted a really good 2-channel SACD player. It’s “Made in Japan” and it shows. SACDs sound sublime, but most of all I was surpr...
