Speakers for Bedroom - Vinyl/Vintage equipment
I'm using the DCM Timeframe TF 400 speakers in my bedroom and they are a steal at the prices I see them going for these days. Very forgiving speaker with great imaging and soundstaging. Easy to drive and would probably be great with the Pioneer. I...
Modern day female jazz recommendations
Check out 2 vocalists on the Venus Label from Japan. Tessa Souter and Nicki Parott. Audiophile label that presses vinyl as well. Have been available from Eastwind Imports, Acoustic Sounds and Music Direct.
Health Effects of Acoustic Revive RR-77?
Interesting thread. I have the RR-77 and noticed it's benefits of a smoother, more relaxed presentation when I first installed it more than 6 months ago. After reading the comments by others I have moved it to the right of my listening seat and rai...
DCM TF-400 info wanted
Yes, the Maggie ref is accurate. I'm kind of drawn to that sort of sound as well. I have the Maggie 1.6 and the Vandersteen 3A Sigs in other systems (I'm really strung out on this hobby) and the non fatiguing musical presentation is what I respond...
DCM TF-400 info wanted
Yes, when facing the speakers, both have the DCM Logo on the upper left side. The drivers are the same configuration on both speakers as well.. For what I paid 3 or 4 years ago ($100) they are really good sounding for an alternate system. I think ...
DCM TF-400 info wanted
I have a pair and the DCM Logo is near the upper left corner of both speakers. Don't know if that's correct or not but they sound good and really are great at imaging. I use them in a bedroom system with a Tact 2150 driving them which is probably ...
Tell me about "tubey" tubes.
Forgot to mention earlier that I also have the Maggie 1.6's in another system but the tubes are further upstream in an Audibile Illusions Mod 3A with the ARC 150.2 for a power amp. The Maggies are indeed special. I've never put the Quickies on the...
Tell me about "tubey" tubes.
Thanks for the reply. I have the Kevin Voecks E-III Snell. I have never heard the Peter Snell designs but I've heard they are different and excellent. That's what the Audio Note design's are based on. I know there a has been quite a debate over th...
Tell me about "tubey" tubes.
Morgenholz, I'm curious if you ran the Quickies with your Snell E's? I'm using the Quicksilver V4's with them and I really think it's quite a nice match. BTW, am using JJ KT88's in the V4's. Thanks.
Any tube rec's on Vandersteen 5's
Try Quicksilver. The V4 mono blocks would be great. If you're on the East Coast, give John Rutan a call at Audio Connection in Verona, New Jersey. Good luck.
Which ARC pre-amp with ARC 150.2?
It's not ARC but I'm using an Audibile Illusions Mod 3A with Maggie 1.6/Vandy Sub/ARC CD1/Modded PS Audio DAC. GREAT SOUND! The AI preamp is wonderful with the 150.2. No remote and tube choice is somewhat limited, but the sound is killin!!!I have ...
Owning too many speakers
Snell E-III, DCM Timeframe TF 400, Maggie 1.6, Vandersteen 3A Sigs, Tannoy Reveal, Polk Bookshelf, Insignia (?) all in different systems. I can't help it. They are all enjoyable in their own way.
Ideal Pre Amp for Bryston 3B ST or 4B SST 2
I'm using a 3BST with an ARC SP16 in conjunction with a SCE Harmonic Recovery System device that helps with impedance matching between amp/preamp. These are driving Vandersteen 3A Sigs and I am enjoying the sound. When my finances are right I'd li...
Vandersteen 7 at Audio Connection
I was also at the NJAS event, hosted by John Rutan @ Audio Connection in Verona, N.J. John and the staff are indeed a rare breed and Kudos to John for hosting. Even though I am not a member, I met some very nice and interesting folks at the event....
Did anyone experience Audio Prism's Ground Control
I'm using the standard model on the tweeter/mid connections and the the reference model on the bass on the Vandy 3A Signatures. Tried the refs on the back of the amp for a while but they make the most difference to my ears on the speakers. The sou...
