SACD software prices are dropping. Sony is a mainstream manufacturer and not a low volume, highend company. It wants SACD to go mainstream and Sony knows that SACD won't go mainstrem by selling software at $25. IMHO, this is a key, calculated step to move SACD into the mainstream.
SACD Multi Channel With HT, the center channel needs to be the "best" speaker, or equal to the other two main speakers. At least 70% of the front sound, especially dialogue, comes from it. With some of my DD and DTS music videos, the lead singer comes out of the cen...
SACD Going Mainstream? According to a British HiFi Magazine, Virgin Records is so pleased with the sales of it first SACD, Oldfield's Tubular Bells, that in the next couple months will release 25 of some of its top records in SACD. No mention which albums these would be...
SACD Going Mainstream? Apex has announced a $299 SACD, DVD-A, HDCD player to be out this summer. I'll hold my judgment until I hear and touch one.Philips, Sony's SACD partner, should be releasing more SACD players. There's only one Philips player right now. Philips tend...
SACD feature of Sony DVP-S9000ES I own a S9000ES. I've heard the Sony players and the Marantz SA-1, but I've never compared them in my home.-The S9000ES was designed by a different division that designed the rest of the Sony players, so it does not have many, if any, of the same ...
Fly in the SACD Ointment? Hedgehog,I own the Audioquest Sam McClain SACD, not the Telarc. I also hate duplication. I own more LPs than CDs and have only about 3 CDs that I also own the LP. I own about 30 SACDs, and none are duplicates with my CD or LP collection. However, ...
Fly in the SACD Ointment? Hedgehog, When do you upgrade. CD will not last forever. No format ever does. Why continue to build a library that's nearing the end of its popularity? Do you have any 8-tracks?BTW, you can buy two Sam McClain SACDs which also play on CD. I own on...
Sony SACD Monsters: Already Obsolete? The SCD-1 and 777 were expensive players to build and have outstanding sonics. I bet Sony lost money on each sold.I suspect the second generation will be like when Sony came out with the DVP-7700 to replace the DVP-7000 DVD player. The 7700 added ...
SACD Dominates Recommended List The Absolute Sound says they will place more emphasis on reviewing SACD hardware and software. I think many people assumed that as soon as DVD-A arrived, SACD would quickly die. This assumption is changing. I do not believe it's valid at all.
Fly in the SACD Ointment? I have more LPs than CDs and about 30 SACDs. I only have 3 CDs that I also have in LP. Right now, have have no SACD duplication. However, I'm thinking about buying the SACD Abraxas album. That ironically is one I have in LP and CD.Getting a SACD p...
Fly in the SACD Ointment? I remember searching for good vinyl and CD recordings, and today I search for good SACD recordings. In almost every case the Sony SACDs sound better than their CD counterparts. However, to truly experience the benefit of SACD, the master should be ...
ESS speakers "Translinear" Transstatic I bought the AMT-3 Rock Monitors in 1975, and still have them in my basement being driven by a Pioneer receiver. I've twice replaced the two 10" woofers and Heil diaphrams. The mid-range is still the original. With a sub-woofer, it still sounds ve...
SACD Dominates Recommended List SACD is a success. It will survive.-The only question is to degree. Is it going to stay a niche audiophile product, or will it move into the main stream?Frankly, all Sony needs to do is release all new material in hybrid SACD and reduce the price ...
SACD Dominates Recommended List SACD's biggest threat is to vinyl. For a little over $1,000, one can purchase a SACD player that approaches the sound of $10K vinyl systems (TT, pre-preamp, cartridge). SACD gives 3 times the playing time, no pops, no need to flip, can use in your ...
