JA Michell Gyro upgrade help, Thanks
Thanks for the help. I think i am going to start by just getting the new power supply and maybe the spring upgrade. Then if i decide to just sell the gyro and then buy the orbe. I can recover the $$ on a seperate sale of the PSU.
SME V aftermarket cable?
Got the Kubala-sosna in the system. SME din > XLR. Its better right out of the gate. hearing (and seeing) more detail at the back of the stage, imaging better throughout.
world's best preamp closest to real sound stage
Of the ones you have listed, I lick the VTL, BAT and Ayre, in that order. The BAT is the best deal at its used price IMO.
Do Thiel Audio CS3.7 Rock?
The Thiel 3.7s are not bright to me. They do rock, and i have heard them with your preamp (only not MP) and amp, they were very nice together.
Tube Monoblocks w/- balanced inputs?
Manley, BAT, VTL
any one box amps that come close to monoblocks?
The BAT VK-600se is in your price range used.
Biggest impact on you?
Many through the years but these two in the last five years have been as big and as good as they come.Dynavector XX2 MKII cartridgeBAT REX preamp
Phono Pre-amp with XLR
Try one of the BAT tube phonostages. I have used both (run balanced in and out) with the balanced junction box on a SSM signature. Great sound, super quiet.
SME V aftermarket cable?
Got a deal on a Kubala-Sosna fascination SME DIN > XLR 1m cable at RMAF. I'll post my findings after it gets in the system. I'll use the stock cable for awhile first.
SME V aftermarket cable?
I'm going to try and keep the cost 800.00 or less. (new or used) Prefer din>XLR. Anyone use anything from Kimber or Nordost?
What preamps outshine the Aesthetix Calypso?
I had the Calypso and BAT VK-31se at the same time and kept the BAT. Bigger sound, better with vocals, better bass and much quieter. I would think the VK-51se at well under your budget used, or a used VK-52se right around your budget would be a bi...
connecting a line stage + phonostage to pass amps
Does the phono sound better on its own, instead of run through the preamp? Or are you just wanting to take advantage of the XLR outputs?
What is would be a small listening room size?
Your room is comparable in size to mine. (around 14X19X8)I consider our rooms small. Better suited for small to medium floorstanders.
Your Impressions of the DV XX2 MKII
I used one for over two years with the JMW9 arm and never had any issues at all. great combo of Smooth, detailed, dynamics, and lots of weight. I think you will be very happy with it. I know i was.
Rel B3 or JL Audio F110
I used a lesser REL (R-505) and now own a pair of F110s. I thought the REL was easier to setup, and sound was good. But the JL Audios in my system are much better subs. Deep detailed bass with more options to dial them in than the REL. Wish i had ...
