What commerical audio system tweaks provide sound quality improvement?? I dislike the idea of editing to prevent people from hurting themselves. Geoff did say not to clean hot and neutral at the same time. Which is fair warning. But if a bunch of us say it's foolproof safety to turn off the circuit, which it is, then ...
I could use some help with a "mystery" humm Have you tried swapping out the XLRs you've used for the MEN? I would assume so, but didn't see it up there.
In ear headphones $150 or less I’ve a set of rbh in ear headphones and they sound incredible.. They were $100 as an introductory price. They’re $150 now. I’ve not compared them to the thousands of Chinese earbuds though..That said, for times when I need earbuds that might get d...
Watch out boys, there's a new game in town! That definitely looks amazing
What commerical audio system tweaks provide sound quality improvement?? Physics definitely supports vibration control. Particularly for tube components and turntables. Don’t leave them out! Also, room treatment is very well supported by theory. Some tweaks, though.. Jeez. I can’t believe people purchase these things. Th...
SR BLACK UEF Outlet break-in and why you shouldntdo multiple tweaks at once. @ptss two YEARS?!! Surely you jest..My last car was a mazdaspeed 3 that I modded a bit. On the forums everyone always said to do one upgrade at a time, so if something wasn't installed properly or needs adjusting you aren't wasting time figuring o...
Speakers for electronic/hiphop/rnb [$4000 range]? The golden ear tritons are exactly the speakers I was thinking of! Greg does have a point, though. But it is a generalization and will not always be true. Though it often is. His point is that speaker manufacturers probably aren't hiring the best ...
Feedback through turntable That sounds like an amazing platform!I tried a 2" maple butcher block on the innertube for under my rega, but it deadened the sound too much. The 1" teak seems to work better. I like the idea of recessed mounts..
Speaker damage? One other way to damage speakers is driving the woofers so hard, the former is bent from bottoming out. There's zero chance you did that in this situation.
Cables for rear surrounds I'll third, or fourth, the BFA banana plugs suggestion. They are superior in sound quality and connection to spades and old style bananas as well as bare wire. Well, in my experience at least
Speakers for electronic/hiphop/rnb [$4000 range]? Ah... If you’re setting up a completely new system, that opens many possibilities. Greg basically covered all that’s important without throwing his opinion in, which is commendable. An option for you not yet mentioned would be floorstanding speake...
Speakers for electronic/hiphop/rnb [$4000 range]? Hey! I listen to loads of electronic, some good indie hip hop (stones throw..), trap, reggae, dubstep... Lots of overlap with your likes!I’m using rbh speakers, 1266se/r. They’re pretty freaking amazing. I can run them very loudly and they stay cl...
Jazz for aficionados I don't have loads of jazz, but two of my favourites are 'Fat Albert Rotunda' by Herbie Hancock and VSOP. Every time I play Fat Albert Rotunda my youngest son thinks it's the music from Charlie Brown Christmas.
What is most important part of a system? @onhwy61 that's not sentimental, that's keeping it real. Perspective is your friend, thanks for the reminder
Feedback through turntable @bdp24 ha, I had no idea. I have a teak cutting board on an inner tube.. Where did you get your roller bearings? I'd love to DIY, but I haven't found good cups. |
