BAT or Levinson
I agree with Tireguy. If you like the sound of BAT, then it is better to move up the ladder than trying different manufacturers. However, if you are curious about what's available outside BAT, it is perfectly understandable also. In that case, if ...
HELP Federal Express broke it and WON'T PAY
I don't believe there is any human working for FedEx. They are all computer-generated cybernetic automatons which sole purpose is to recite the rules back to the unfortunate customers.Seriously, I recently had one package with FedEx that had a bad...
What is the deal with the ART DIO
Somewhat contrary to the comments above, I think soundstage is one of the strength of my modified DI/O. It is very wide, but about medium depth and height. Within that field, imaging is finely layered and accuratly presented, IMHO. However, as sea...
What is the deal with the ART DIO
Basically, the deal is that, when properly modified, DI/O can sound very good, beating out digital equipments several times its meagre price. I have one that I modified, and my experience comfirms what I've said above.
PsAudio 300?
I hate to rain down on your parade, but I'd suggest caution. I had PS300 w/Multi and wasn't too impressed. It did lower the noise floor but the music was sapped of its life and dynamism. I had it burned in for almost four weeks, and hooked all my ...
Jitter reduction devices
I've used Monarchy DIP 24/96, GW-Labs DSP, Altmann JISCO, PT P1A. In my opinion, they did make a difference, but not a remarkably appreciable one. And the "difference" in sound they made was not necessarily an "improvement." I ended up selling the...
A'gon transactions: When is it legit to quit?
I had a somewhat simliar experience, and I would like to hear whether my action is justified. I recently responded to an ad on A-Gon for a CD player clearly stating that I would purchase the item at his price. I then got an e-mail from the seller ...
Need Help with New DAC
If you are not averse to the idea of having a $300 DAC, I'd suggest a modified DI/O. There is much information available on Audigon forums and over yonder at AudioAsylum digital forum. It should reward you well to do little bit of research on DI/O...
Parts Connection - Now where do I find parts?
Percy Audio is close to an one-man operation, or so I heard, and Michael has reportedly been ill with a flu. I placed an order a week ago and have heard nothing back from him. I decided to pay him first rather than waiting for him to send me an in...
Do "Cardas Caps" make a difference?
I have a dozen and I frankly can't tell if there's an improvement in sound. Oh, well, they look good enough and keep the dust out. I won't buy any more of them though.
Zu Druid speakers...
Looking forward to your update, Ton1313. I am also interested in Zu Speakers. I've used many Zu Cable products and am favorably impressed. Thanks in advance.
Bottlehead DIY pre amps
Foreplay wasn't as easy to put together as I initially thought, but in the end I came out ok and the amp sounds pretty good. It is amazing that the amp works at all, as it caught fire during the assembly. :) Doc B. answered a dozen phone calls dur...
It's Perpetual Techn. P3A a real bargain?
Agreed. It is a pretty good performer with Dan's mod. (I had one for a year.) Look for a cheap used one on audiogon and have it modded.
I don't get it
I think 2) and 3) hold true with a bit of "mismatch" Gregm talks about. You read all the rave reviews that praised a piece of gear the best thing ever walked on God's green earth, but it somehow didn't live up to your expectations in your system. ...
Fedex Weekly Damage Report
Sorry to hear that. I used to think FedEx was better, albeit marginally, than the UPS, but it no longer seems true. I've sent my amp to the manufacturer for a free upgrade, and I haven't heard on its condition. I double boxed and put as much peanu...
