What is the best amp pairing you have personally made with the Klipsch La Scala AL-5
No amps hooked to the AL-5s at the moment.  I have Coincident Frankenstein 300B SET monoblocks in my primary system and have briefly toted them into the room with the AL5's but they did not really have the balls needed for these speakers.  Sounded...
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
I LIKE HORN SPEAKERS... HU, WHAT... I SAID, I REALLY LIKE HORN SPEAKERS!  Thought this discussion could use a bit of levity... and actually I do like "some" horn speakers fed SET power.
Finally Settled on a Preamp—Don Sachs Model 2 Custom Linestage
Funny you mention those two particular linestages for comparison. I have mentioned on another thread somewhere that I at one point this last year had all three (new Don Sachs pre, PSA-BHK, and the AR-ref-6SE) at the same time swapping them out jus...
Who has switched from a PS Audio BHK Preamp to something else?
@smodtactical  the Don Sachs is not better nor more revealing than the 6SE just different in presentation.  The 6SE is fantastic and very flexible but I am on a path to minimalization thus the DS.  I think this cycle repeats every 8 to 10 years.
Who has switched from a PS Audio BHK Preamp to something else?
I moved to Don Sachs latest tube pre.  After switching in and out of my system for a few months I sold both my PS-BHK and AR-Ref-6ES.  Don's pre is just has a better synergy with the balance of my system.  Super quiet, super dynamic, and not rolle...
Audio research ref 6SE vs world
You might give Don Sachs a call.  He normally uses only one balanced In/Out pair but you can opt for more instead of RCA.  For a pure tube pre it is very quiet and clean sounding not syrupy and rolled off.  I purchased one just to play with and af...
Cube Audio Nenuphar Single Driver Speaker (10 inch) TQWT Enclosure
Looking forward to your updates... on my spring purchase plan.
Recommendation for new cables
Two really good options without going absolutely crazy on money:1)   Synergistic Research Foundation series2)   Grover Huffman Express series
What did your system look like 30 years ago?
Sonic Frontiers SF-CD1Sonic Frontiers Line-2Sonic Frontiers SFS-80 and Power-2B&W Silver Signature monitorsB&W ASW-800 x2 subs
Speaker recommendation $10-20K (with some requirements!)
Try a more simplistic tube pre before doing anything rash.  If that does not change the character enough I give another vote for the Vandersteen Quatro.
Recommendation for a replacement speaker cable
I'm very fond of Grover Huffman Cables.  They seem to just get it right without limiting dynamics.
Any small Horn speaker? Horn speaker lovers. (Piano sound)
2nd Viking Acoustics and will add BD-Design out of the Netherlands.  I have both and LOVE them.  The Klipsch La-Scala + sub is also a great option.
Don Sachs DS2 vs Wells Audio Commander
All I can tell you is my Don Sachs pre (about 9 months old now) has bested my AR-6-SE and my PSA-BK pre's.  I couldn't be happier.
Best 300B SET
Coincident Frankenstein
which speaker to buy
Don't bridge and purchase a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls done!  These speakers are made for rock & roll and are so efficient that he will go deff long before he can over drive them.  They come with a 10yr guarantee.
