Should I Repair a Plinius 8150 ?
I read this thread days ago and had all the same thoughts as Viridian, just didn't feel comfortable saying do it yourself without experience, But now that he has said it....open the case, take pictures of the wiring for reference, look at and meas...
Ayre mx-r vs. Pass xa 60.5
I agree with Tboooe completely. I can't imagine anything but bass node problems in that room....
Class D vs Class A
Hi Jorge, Thanks for the reply. Dennis's newer series have a great reputation. They will continue to improve, enjoy. If anyone cares, I purchased Abletec ALC0300-1300, 150 Watt mono boards, they run 150 to 8 and 300 to 4. I couldn't find much on ...

Class D vs Class A
Hi Jorge, By the same experience, I assume that you also bought modules and built your own amp. Which modules are you using? I listened shortly last evening, I definitely had some minor improvements over the night before.
Class D vs Class A
Well, it took a little longer than I suspected, but my Class D amp is up and running.... I don't want to over elaborate right now, the amp has only had a signal on it for 12 ours, but I have to say, I've sat in front of a bunch of amps in my 35 ye...
Affordable Newer Speakers
If you have a already have a sub, you really can't lose with the Pioneer Model: SP-FS52... These run $249 retail and I've seen them for less. Once they break in they are surprising. I don't think you'll find anything for $500 to beat them.
Classdaudio vs Channel Islands amps
I have Abletec modules right now.... but when I'm done, my finished amp will be made in Missouri.... Yes, I purchased the modules from Europe, but I folded, drilled my case, added jacks, connectors and boards, wired and hopefully this weekend will...
Your first amp?
Went into a stereo store @ 18, had a Pioneer SX780 in layaway, the store offered me a job, refunded my layaway money, my first manager was an audiophile. My first system ended up being a Gas Grandson of Ampzilla and a Kenwood LO7C
Focal mid woofer needed? Sourcing help appreciated
I'd check Zalytron first... at one time they were the largest Focal distributor... seems lately they don't have much. Good Luck
Yaqin integrated anybody heard them or own one
I had the same amp as Stereo 5. I changed a few key parts and rolled the tubes, after that it was pretty good. it really didn't have any tubed flair. My brother is using it today. A buddy tried one of the others, I'm thinking 40 watts per channel....
Can a single terminal speaker be bi-amped?
Csontos has it right. If the cross over is built on a circuit board, you would need some real experience to bi amp, but if not or you can easily distinguish, before the crossover, the input from the tweeter vs the input of the woofer, you could ve...
Do Active Speakers Belong In A High End System?
In theory, the answer is a resounding YES. Even better might be to have digital signal processing right on the board and have a pure digital USB/SPDIF/TOSLINK ETC, Come directly to the speaker. In reality, its tough to get right
Class D vs Class A
The only thing that I can see to do to the Albetec boards is to do some bypassing on the power supply, replace the input caps with the best that I can make fit and solder all leads directly to the boards (using Litz).... any other suggestions are ...
