Ethernet switches the good and bad
@audioman58 : and this exceptional $600 switch is? Brand? Model? Thanks
Ethernet switches the good and bad
It is sad that some only show up to throw mud. Yup! Freddy here has a thing against Ethernet stuff. Must be some type of childhood trauma caused by… Ethernet.
user poll on seperates vs integrated
Maybe stating the obvious here, but the answer is …. It depends. A very good Integrated is better than more inferior separates. I have had both separates and integrated over the past many years. I currently have an Integrated, the T+A PA 3100 HV, ...
Comparing Directstream 1 and 2
IMO, if the new DS DAC does not wow you when swapping in the old one, if you are really struggling to hear a difference, it’s not worth it. You should have already a good baseline with the old one. Put the new one, listen. Does it wow you? Put bac...
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like"
…. Says Reckless Kelly 😂🤯😂🤯
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like"
I finally got around to trying the brass sluggo today. Before I inserted it replacing the “untreated” copper sluggos to my Innuos ZENith, I polished the brass one, the whole procedure @gladmo shared, jewelry clothe, isopropyl alcohol 99%, handled ...
Roon….The Gordon Knot of concierge musical services?
I have Roon for free! I mean, I paid for their Lifetime subscription over five years ago when it was $499, and has already paid for itself. Do the math. By far the best purchase I have ever made in this hobby. I wouldn’t use anything else, nothing...
How many of you streaming?
Yes. Typically the entire album. I am an album kind of dude 😂🤷‍♂️.   I stream Qobuz, Tidal, my owned ripped / downloaded music, via Roon, and sometimes via Innuos Sense
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like"
You may be into something here @gladmo , thanks for sharing. I have not had any chance to experiment with polishing, or even trying the brass sluggo, as I have been very busy at work, but I continue to be amazed by the impact that the Swiss Fuse B...
Is there a ceiling limit on what you are willing to pay for an audio component?
When I first started reading the OP, I thought the right answer is “whatever your budget allows”. But then I read this, and was confused: For me, I cannot see myself paying over $5K on speakers and likely not more that $3K on any other component...
the big one: how do you choose speakers? By what features, data?
@grislybutter : I understand. You just take the leap of faith for the first pair. And you go from there. Gradually. I have had 9 (nine) pairs of speakers over the past 20 years since seriously in the hobby. And I can’t really say my current speake...
the big one: how do you choose speakers? By what features, data?
w123ale 72 posts 05-11-2023 at 07:24pm  My two cents: figure out what you like, not what reviewers like. Define what you like as much as you can. Do you like laid back smooth sound or higher detail, do you like huge sound stage, are looks...
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like"
OK…. I caved. And bought one Swiss Fuse Box. Maybe because Mark is a pleasure to work with. Or maybe easy picking for my Innuos ZENith MK3, for which I was already using a SR Purple fuse (and before that the Orange). It’s pretty simple to deal wit...
Network Acoustics Muon ethernet filtering system - Improving streaming sound quality
@mitch2 : nothing in your two links indicates the existence (or lack thereof) of gigabit Ethernet inputs in your Mojo server. You will have to ask the company. Needless to say, everything in your chain (internet speed, router, switches, cables) mu...
Revisiting Chinese Knockoff Cables
jetter 2,701 posts 05-07-2023 at 10:26am  Looking at the most positive side of roxy54’s original post it serves a very important purpose to inform potential buyers of these cables being sold as used (expecting the genuine article) to be o...
