PrimaLuna amp good match for Thiel CS 2.3?
Thanks good technical watch out for me!

Anyone tried a PrimaLuna amp?  Each time I visit a hifi store, I leave smitten by a tube amp, many of which won't fit into my current audio budget (looking at you BAT and PS Audio!). Last weekend it was the PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium HP, curious t...

pwhinson - thanks for the insight into how the Bel Canto Ref600s sound with the 2.4s; it seems Class D amps are generally not favored for Thiels but this is the first time I have heard details as to why for any specific make/model, and I have been...

frozentundra - good question - I have a PS Audio Perfectwave, haven't auditioned anything else in my newish system, and did get some feedback via the virtual system post suggesting a McIntosh DAC would bring more warmth, less dry air to the overal...

And here's a question - I have the CS2.3s, and of course much of the discussion on this forum focuses on other models, but I assume based on specs alone my 2.3s are fairly similar to the 2.4s, meaning hopefully much of the discussion is still pert...

Thanks for the advice and the nice welcome, I am interested in learning more about upgrades for capacitors etc, so will be looking into that route.

jafant, thanks for pointing me to this thread!Currently have Thiel CS 2.3s driven by Krell KAV-300il with Audioquest CV-8 speaker cables.  Front end is Oppo BDP-103 used as transport, PS Audio Perfect Wave DAC (and getting the Bridge and convertin...
Best balanced linestage/preamp for $4000 or less ???
Atmasphere - do manuals generally indicate if the equipment meets the AES 48 standard?oem-wheels - in similar discussions two other pre-amps are mentioned - don Sachs ($2500 new) and cary sl-05 (~$3100 used).  No idea how these stack up against th...
Tube pre-amps: balanced a big deal?
Thanks cousinbillyl, good insight.
Tube pre-amps: balanced a big deal?
Interested in hearing tubes, this seems like the best way considering what I am starting with.  Balanced connections are available on the Jolida and Schitt, not on the deHavilland, but the reviews would indicate the deHavilland is the more popular.
Next step: tube preamp or analog?
Leaning toward the tube preamp.  Have been considering Schiit Freya, the Jolida Fusion, and now seeing a deHavilland UltraVerve circa 2005.  Seems to me the deHavilland is very well reviewed and I like external tubes, but it lacks xlr connections....
My next upgrade: what's first
I have listened to quite a few speakers over the last year and other than Maggie 1.7i, I have not found anything that I am convinced sounds better than what I have for less than $3500 used: ProAc, Maggie 3.6, anything up food chain by Thiel.  Not ...
Next step: tube preamp or analog?
Dorkwad, thanks for your insights as well; sounds like the phono direction could be a very slippery slope esp for a tinkerer like me.
Next step: tube preamp or analog?
Thanks for the insight, guess I am still learning the vocab.
