I actually tried a pair of E.H. 12ax7 and actually put my hand on them 10 minutes after light up ( just warm ) and couldn't see any light,but they worked fine.It depends on the tube type,construction etc......

My guess is it should be treated like any other system component. It should reqiure a firm solid stable foundation for it to work properly.

I did it for many years in a same size room.No problems if you can bring them out from the wall a few feet and don't overstuff the room with furniture. The 801s are a little forward but for me using a tube linestage and a solid state amp ,it worke...
