Rogue Audio Metis owners what tubes are you using?
I used to own a Metis. Call Rogue, they'll offer suggestions. FWIW I really liked the Sylvania chrome tops I picked up here on auction for $50. Better IMO then the GE's that Rogue suggested (and I bought).
Impossible? Small towers, efficient, musical, loud
Jax2 - listening position is under the short side. Can't change it.Have not tried diffusion, no. I went with absorption because there was a ton of room boom and slap echoI've had various components throughout my system. The only constant was the U...
My first post, need some opinions about speakers
Devore's are supposed to be the cat's meow with Shindo. Nice gear -- that's my dream stuff. Like that you play rock over those 'dainty' little Shindo's. Bet it sounds great.

Appreciate the feedback.Jaybo, I will be holding onto and playing with the Ushers for now as they are my current speakers. Jax2, I wish I could bring the speakers in but I can't. thanks for the link to the other thread, helpful. I read about the M...
Sony Playstation 1 for a CD player ???
outside of turning the unit on and off, you need the controller
You know you're an audiophile if--
Makes sense to me.
Recommend good isolation
To kill time waiting for a response, you may want to try and see what you think...
Listening china.. any xindak, shengya experiences?
Never have read a bad thing about Cayin in particular, and I believe at least one of their integrateds is a Stereophile Class B. Xindak too seems to be taking lengths to churn out some quality gear. I've ordered a couple MHZS cd players from Pac V...
Solid State Preamp for Nuforce 9SEV2
Hey Milpai, what are your experiences with other preamps (and which ones) vs the Pro. TVC? I'm entertaining getting one, it would be compared with a Shindo Aurieges.
Anyone in the Central Ca?
Rick, Potlicker, would love to get together...Potlicker got your email and replied. I'm interested in hooking up with other like-minded audio nerds. Rick, whereabouts in so county are you?
Good "warm" CD player for $500
You'll spend less $$ and reap greater rewards if you are able to treat your room. A cd player isn't going to do what you want if it's brightness you're looking to tame. I would venture to guess that the 'minimalist' setting you have also has a goo...
Best cable for Jumpers
07-01-09: MajicjazzIt is always best to use the same brand jumpers as your speaker cables. I was using Anti-cable jumpers with 47 Labs stratos cabling (whole system). Replaced them with some Stratos wire and the fidelity improved. whether this is ...
Speakers and vacuum tube gear
I would say that power, in a sense, is a factor of compatibility. To answer your first question, higher sensitivity speakers would be a good start. Beyond that, I think your question is too general.
Who has dumped the power conditioner?
I recently tried to replace my PS Quintet with the naim-recommended wiremold strip as my power seems pretty stable and I don't really need surge protection. The Quintet however rendered a fuller sound and soundfield and slightly quieter background...
Good "warm" CD player for $500
Spend your $500 on room treatments before you buy anything else -- a few well placed acoustic panels will benefit your bright problem, and your entire system, more then another cdp IMO. Acoustic panels are prob the most unsexy thing you can buy bu...
