"Audiophile" Power Cables: The Greatest Audio Conspiracy Theory of All Time? Power conditioner way to go! My gear has hardwired simple power cord from the 1960s. I heard huge difference with power conditioner. I might get a medical grade power cord for my Dac for $13.
Tube or solid state Honestly anything can change sound, 2 of the same models can sound different. Transistors vs tubes good and bad of each. I’ve heard worse new transistor amps then better, Heard better tube amps then worse. Modern Solid State preamp low noise fl...

Did the Old Receivers Sound Good? hk430 preamp section kinda sucks. They used subpar pots. Amplifier section is where its at! I have to heavy upgraded Citation 12 and Citation 16. Similar design to the hk430. Sound very good! https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/top...
Did the Old Receivers Sound Good? I've owned Modern gear, Tube and Solid State. Vintage gear sound better once restored, not including receivers in the list. Owned a Marantz PM8006, Marantz 7T Marantz 16B blew it away. No comparison in detail, bass, musical enjoyment. I heard th...

Did the Old Receivers Sound Good? I wish there was a shop @jason-mc9. Why I work on my own equipment. New vs vintage really isn't a fair comparison unless capacitors have been charged to match new performance. I have always heard huge improvement over a recap. 40-50-70 year old ...
point-to-point or solder to CB: what should I be considering? Point to Point, Board boards we don't use stinking boards lol.
Did the Old Receivers Sound Good? I have all marantz vintage separates, recapped vs recapped marantz receivers. Marantz 15,16,250,500 amp with marantz 7t, 7c, 33, 3300 all sound better then the 22xx series. Marantz 18 receiver can sound very good, marantz 15 and 7t and marantz 2...

Upgrade to McIntosh @wolfgangamadeusaudiophiliac This is most definitely a great conversation from everyone. I play with vintage gear all the time. I prefer warming sound, I also like fast detailed tight bass. I’ve bought new gear solid state power amplifiers and p...
Upgrade to McIntosh Vintage is the way to go! Marantz tube gear is great! mc30 and mc225 are my favorite Mac amps. I’m tinkering with HK citation 1 and 2 sound really good too! @audioman58 I’m not surprised! I don’t like how McIntosh uses circuit boards in mc275.... |
