Emotiva equipmet, how good is it?
As a 2+ year owner of a XSP-1 Gen 2 preamp I have nothing but praise for this pre-amp. I picked it up new for 15% off the then current price direct from them. The pre adds or subtracts nothing from the sound,  It works very well with with my recon...
The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
Sitting here right now listening to my AB copy of Aja with a ART9 on a $1500 TT and could not be happier. I live in a Metro area of 2 million people and no true hi end shop where you can even purchase a $3000 cartridge. I gave up and ordered the A...
Why Miles Davis late alboms are not well recorded?
Have never owned a Miles album on vinyl till recently. I bought the KOB record store day mono reissue. Sounds very nice and RTI did a good pressing job. Not a huge fan of music with trumpets, but this was quite nice.
Best vinyl purchases based on pressing, studio production, sound quality and enjoyment.
The recent Giles Martin remaster of Sgt Peppers US press (QRP) is just wonderful. Highly recommended. Read several times it is better than the UK/European pressing.I have purchased many of the Rhino 33rpm Doors records. They sound very nice, have ...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
My experience with the "break/burn In" is mostly yes it does make a difference. The Magnepan speakers took about 2-3 months before they came alive. I have a recently rebuilt before purchasing, Carver M500t amp that took quite a while to acquire th...
FM antennas.............Does ANBODY still make them?
Look up Antennacraft on the web. Call them to see if they have a model FM-6 6-element directional still in inventory. It was listed on their website about a year ago. They ship easily on UPS and is a quality piece.
Best Cartridge for $1000-$1350?
Have been using a ART9 for about a year now. The best features are:1) A soundstage that is not only wide but so deep sometimes the sound seems to be coming from outside in my front yard.2) Best bass responce I have ever heard. Tight, clean and bol...
New Technics SL1200gr, anyone taken the leap.
Thought about getting one, have not found anyone stocking it in Kansas City. Guitar Center has them in their warehouse but none of the KC locations have a demo unit available to listen to. Looks nice and will probably last forever. I am very happy...
Audiophile LP's
Agree with Sheffield D to D records I have several. Another among my best SQ records are the American Grammaphone LP's.  Many are pressed on JVC transllucent vinyl. The Fresh Aire series first pressings are just marvelous. When I sold records in t...

I have many of the records listed above, for the most part agree with 90% of those listed. My nominee is a recent release by Tangerine Dream titles "Quantum Gate"Bold, powerful, detailed, and pressed with the utmost of care. Probably the best reco...
VPI 16.5 Cleaning Machine - Drying Question
My routine is much like Pryso’s. I use a triton/hepastat cleaning solution, and rinse with distilled water from a 4 oz spray bottle. My vac routine is identical to pryso’s. My records are dry and ready to play. Have had good luck with this method...
3 Cartridges Reviewed
Hi all,I now have about 125 hours on my ART9, Sometimes it will be days between uses. This is when it really impresses. Spun several records today, a couple of common pressings and the new Tangerine Dream "Quantum Gate" LP. The TD record is just "...
