Always fascinated with vibrations we can sense and hear but have no method yet to test for or measure. Working on an applique to surfaces to reduce shear wave interference on most any surface. My favorites being speakers and cabinets and musical i...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think
Considering the Via Wave Srt7 ribbon tweeter also a drop in replacement in my cabinet in combo with the Purifi. Crossover should be straightforward and simplistic.  Tom

Myself and 2 other Audiogon members have received our Purifi PTT6.5 WO4 drivers this week. Longtime coming with all the Covid delay. They look amazing ..fit and finish and unique features can hardly wait to drop them in.    and they will for both ...

Well you would have 2 conversions when really only none is required..And you would have many more component parts including the probable use of a couple of noisey switching power supplys. Other than that it would work. I have run digital eq and xo...

vair68robert..Just saw the exposed crossover you posted. The single easiest most dramatic improvement would be for you to replace all the resistors shown with either non inductive wire wounds from Mills or Mundorf. I would replace the resistors fi...

Get it all out here..When I did a remodel of my power amps I took the main board Nichicons off and chassis mounted 4 of the Clarity Cap TC's  these are hard mounted to the metal bottom with Audiopoints. You could do the same in a speaker when repl...

Question can you run a cap and resistor in series to equate the the esr of the original ?  The best sounding resistors are the Vishay nude metal films. When I rebuilt my long gone Dunlavys years back..I had to build resistor bridges with several o...
Do these woofers look right on these Dunlavys IVA's?
You have IV's which came originally with Morel woofers and then there was a running change to the Vifa drivers. The IVa was an update that required a model change because of the Scanspeak drivers and the required crossover changes. The first 2 woo...
Do these woofers look right on these Dunlavys IVA's?
Correction..the woofers were Morel, Vifa and finally Scanspeak..Tom
Do these woofers look right on these Dunlavys IVA's?
Dunlavy on the model  4s had 3 different versions. The big changes were changing the woofers from Morel to Seas to Scanspeak.  The Scanspeak required changes to the crossover and probably to the damping to maintain the Q that John preferred.  Alon...
Do these woofers look right on these Dunlavys IVA's?
Those are drivers by Scanspeak and as 4krowme stated they have a doped cone. What you see came from the factory as designed. Tom
Who's Gone Topless?
I took all the natural lambs wool out of our speakers and cut and glued in the non wood be corners, hard pink and yellow fiberglass blocks used in hvac. This speaker has no 90 degree corners either outside or inside.  Tom
What footers for Dunlavy V's
Sold a set of Dunlavy 6's to a client some years back. First thing we did was put a floor jack under each speaker which was in an unfinished area directly under his mammoth speakers. We installed Audiopoints under the platforms still attached. Tod...

Harry ...Tom here in Louisville..part of the way back machine. Just thinking of you yesterday wondering if you might have an extra phono preamp laying around in your collection and how to reach you. Wow!!  Looking at a Citation 17s and rebuild and...
Who's Gone Topless?
Yes I posted about this years ago..its somewhere in my history and history repeats itself everyday.. Interfering Energy...it can be in many forms and types. That is what Mike is hearing when he removes the panels on his amps just as I do on my amp...
