What should be under my speakers? GentsI can tell you without an audible doubt with my ears and two other pairs in audience that tighter coupling is more benefical than that provided by leveling. Unless you use additional added shim or shims of the same material you will loose cou...
What should be under my speakers? Time warp..Just a few years back the mere written word Audiopoint, Sistrum, coupled, resonance transfer, those words those terms were beaten up on these pages. So now with a little temperance from all involved, myself included those once riddled w...
DIY wood diffusers Buconero,Thanks for the link to see these panels. I made something similar in ways except the inverse. I built angular enclosures around my ceiling mounted video screen and a soffit overhead surrounding the ductwork. The enclousers are built of bi...
Review: Mye Sound speaker stands Magnepan- MG-20 Tweak TeajayCongratulations you have sucessfully direct coupled your loudspeakers to the higher mass of ground. You have shortened the delay time and amount of energy storage within the diaphragm and the frame work that tensions the membrane. The wave l...
Circuit City is Closing, Liquidating Mapman,Larry everyone else all this goes back to downloadable music and the I-Pod as the new audio reference. Nobody makes money on video.. its the draw that brought new customers into a store. Whether it was lo-fi mid-fi or hi-fi, video drives th...
Circuit City is Closing, Liquidating The Magnolia in Best Buy here in Louisville is terrible. No one greets you or says HI or nods or gives you any feed back at all. If you gave them a moon shot over their heads they probably wouldn't notice that either. I have escorted my customers ...
Circuit City is Closing, Liquidating Larry,If you look at the time line , decline in sales and the sudden drop in stock price, it all pivots around the firing of their sales professionals. Tom
Gabriel Gold IC's are they really this good? Norm,I did a comparison between the Sp101 and the Sp1..I thought the Sp1 maybe better because of its lower mass and what I thought would be greater reactivity. I can say in my system that the Sp101 sounded better. I used an Audio Research tube amp...
sealed vs vented subwoofers My reference noise for reproduction in a subwoofer is not natural acoustic bass but the noise that comes from a 10ton metal stamping press at the KTP plant here in my state. Thats the real everyday authority. Who cares about the sound of real unam...
Top resistors Vishay TX2575 are made from the new Z foil that was developed in Israel. They are suppose to be even lower noise yet. They cost $9.40 each. I have them on order for my Altmann/ DD Dac combo hybrid which is currently using the standard Vishay metal...
Subwoofer vibration foot isolators???? Bacardi,You put the APCD discs on the top points those that will engage the bottom of your sub. For maximum grip and launch I elected not to use the discs on my subs, also piano black. I don't look at their bottoms. My subs bottoms that is. Tom
Brass screw tweak, seen in Virtual Dynamics video. Swapping brass for steel especially around tweeter domes and the mounting frames is very obvious. Same can be said for mounting hardware around the crossover and circuit boards. Tom
Subwoofer vibration foot isolators???? Bacardi,Right now on this site is a pair of Sistrum Sp101 adjustable platforms for sale. A Sistrum Sp 1 and APCD discs would work well also. I use SP101's under each of my James EMB subs and one each under my mono pair of amps. These are not isola...
Brass screw tweak, seen in Virtual Dynamics video. Have used brass screws and inserts for 10 years or more. Non ferrous materials and brass in particular sounds better. Brass is the metal of music. Tom
Subwoofer vibration foot isolators???? Bacardi,Are you wanting better bass definition and as a result more resolute midrange? Is your system in the basement, carpet over concrete? Tom |
