When a budget speaker is preferred to a high end one... @tmaker - A smaller speaker offer better placement flexibility. Often large speakers work just fine, unless they are relying on distance for integration of drivers (I am looking at your Wilson). If you are overpowering a room at low frequencies, t...
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding? @esarhaddon , that is not HAM or CB. You can tell it is packetized data and/or for packetized processing. The keeps are the demodulation of the envelope. I will see if I can extract the frequencies of the "beeps" as that may provide a better clue ...
Wendell Diller: "You don't wanna put a subwoofer with a Magneplanar; it doesn't work." @audiokinesis if we are going to go to that level then we need to go all the way. As @bdp24 points out Dipoles are much different and even as a woofer and Linkwitz is a good resource. With Mags you have both a dipole and a large surface radia...
Analog vs. digital @blisshifi I use HDR all the time in nature photography. Almost always the result is positive with a much more natural look. Realistically with 13-14 stops on modern digital simple tone mapping is already enough. When you use HDR to naturally exte...
Which USB reclocker is as good as the Innuos Phoenix USB? @antigrunge2 those deficiencies are ones you believe but they are totally unfounded. There can be groundloops when connected to lower featured DACs, but they are easily eliminated for a few hundred. It's far better to send data than data and clock.
Can anyone tell me where the progress in audio went? What I posted was original and not a recording of speakers. It shows all that is missing and was added. YouTube videos are near worthless to determine anything about audio components.
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding? It's amplitude demodulation of the envelope of a high frequency signal either RF or power. The beeps are to be expected. Source to be determined.
Wendell Diller: "You don't wanna put a subwoofer with a Magneplanar; it doesn't work." Well @josh358 it seems others have put things straight. When the wavelength is much greater than the speaker diameter or baffle then the speaker becomes omnidirectional. No need for a dipole. The key to integration is fast roll off filters so ...
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding? Does not matter if well respected. It does not work where others had no issue. It is broken (as I noted and needs to be fixed), or it has a design flaw.
Can anyone tell me where the progress in audio went? @tannoy56 it cannot reveal any more dynamics, or energy than the system I or anyone else clicking on that video is listening to, in 192kbps AAC by the way. It sounds much better played directly even through Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
Paypal...buyer protection fees didnt help me @missioncoonery , When did this all happen? Do you have any time left? Not sure where you are located, but I would go on Audiosciencereview and DIYAudio and ask if there is anyone locally with equipment who could run a simple distortion test. I...
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding? Noise sounds like communications and/or a processor ramping up/down to do something. Any chance you are using USB to connect to something connected to your stereo or sharing a power supply for anything related to the turntable? Phone into a USB c...
Wendell Diller: "You don't wanna put a subwoofer with a Magneplanar; it doesn't work." Hey, never let the reality of physics and the dispersion of bass frequencies versus cone diameter get in the way of a good marketing spiel. As long as audiophiles accept suppliers lying to them, this will continue.
Can anyone tell me where the progress in audio went? @assetmgrsc I read a review today about a solid state DAC, professional reviewer, where the reviewer went on about bass performance, sound-stage, etc. If you know anything about SS DACs designed to be accurate, then you will know that all t...
Can anyone tell me where the progress in audio went? @kairosman -- Uber expensive speakers maybe, and even upper mid-end speakers. Most of the electronics tapped out ages ago. It is just marketing now. |
