Why so underwhelmed by Revel F208 audition???
I recently heard the F208 and another much more expensive model, 20K+ CDN and thought both were on the dull side.Thought the F206 were great with Cyrus gear so brought 'em home for a demo......awful.Bass was OK, enough of it but I've heard tighter...
Is KEF no longer relevant?
Still not sure about the R700's I have home on demo. The dealer will take them back, as agreed but isn't keen to so they are offering to knock off another 10% on an already very good price. They are sounding better as they break in.Tried the Revel ...

I must be getting close to that 100 hour threshold. I think they sound a bit better, the highs seems more prominent though not necessarily as airey as I'd like.Bass performance continues to impress. The dealer said "they don't have much bass" but ...
Hegel H300 vs Naim Supernait 2 vs Modwright KWI200
I have to agree with Jkuc when calling the Hegel more refined.I'm finding the MW coarse in comparison and that characteristic is what is driving me towards the Hegel more than anything else.

Not sure how long it takes to break in these R700's. Left them on all day, probably have about 30 hours on them.So far they're OK, not great, not bad.Bass better than expected but that may be the amp and positioning. One review mentions they can be...
Is KEF no longer relevant?
Just noticed one of the anular donuts is shot on my 104.2's. Which means all 4 woofers should be fixed. Not sure I want to sink a ton of money into these 29 year old speakers. If these R700's pass the test I may just have to keep them. But I also wa...
Is KEF no longer relevant?
I'm about to bring a pair of R700's home for an audition so I'll be in a better position to answer the question this time next week.As a KEF owner for 29 years I am cautiously optimistic
Hegel H300
I tried the Hegel H300 recently and think it may be the best amp I've heard in my system. There is a better than 50% chance I will trade in my Modwright to get one.But an interesting anomaly that I'm not quite sure what to think of.Hegel's website,...
Hegel H300 vs Naim Supernait 2 vs Modwright KWI200
I have the Modwright now and recently heard the Hegel in my system. The MW, at least in my room with my speakers, has more bass and midrange warmth. Is that good of bad? Matter of opinion I guess.Hegel's bass not as prominent but tighter, perhaps t...

Hegel h300 or Modwrkw200 or Music Fidelity M6500i
I concur about Burt at Seattle HiFi, great guy to deal with. That's where I got my Modwright.Am surprised re the comment about the Modwright being bright, I don't find that at all. My main issue is it's bass heavy which is why I'm seriously consid...
Why do McIntosh come with cheap plastic remotes?
I'm on the fence on this one.Part of me says quality gear should come with a quality remote. But the other part appreciates the option to save the money, especially if one is planning to use a universal remote. My Modwright came with a cheap and che...
All else being equal.............................
I recently heard the Hegel 300 and liked it, though maybe not enough to trade in my Modwright to get the Hegel. Also tried the Vanguard at home recently. Also very nice but much more sharply etched than either the Hegel or the Modwright. That extr...
EVS modified Oppo 105D
Am intrigued by the sonic benefits users are describing with EVS mods, but to my admittedly untrained eye the pictures of these mods look pretty scary.
