subwoofer question Small sealed REL. I have a Q108 in a small room. You don't even know its there....until you turn it off. Fast, tight and unobtrusive. I use it for music only.
going backward to inwalls - some questions It's not likely you will be happy with this setup due to room issues. It's unlikely you will be able to put the speakers in their optimal positions due to construction limitations. Set aside enough money for a great headphone system. $700-$1500 wi...
Crazy Cardas? Another good suggestion is Jim Smith's book, Get Better Sound. Lots of great ideas and experience. Worth the money even if you don't agree with him on all points.
Crazy Cardas? Cardas is into formulas. Golden ratios and the like in his cables and rooms. Didn't work for me. It might work if you were building a room from scratch. It doesn't account for variables such as seating height, furniture, wall composition, etc. Sum...
Voice and instrument image bunched in the middle?? If all of your connections are proper, try the Sumiko Master Set Method of speaker placement. Works with any system and in any room.
Tube DAC with solid state pre and solid state amp The EE DAC can output both tube or SS, so it is possible to compare the two with SS amplification. I prefer the tubed output and have experimented with several different tubes. No one can really say what your system would sound like. It works........
blue jeans cable? Absolutely. Recommended without reservation for all cables. Honest. Well made. Affordable.
Help Need speakers for Peachtree Audio Nova 125 Will the Peachtree have enough power to push the MMGs to their potential at high volumes? Will you need to add separate amplification?
Best subs for music under 1000$ Hsu for the money. Or SVS. I love REL sealed subs if you can find one in your price range. They reproduce bass tones of music particularly well
High Quality Digital Coax RCA to BNC Adaptors Instead I decided to use a Blue Jeans cable 75 Ohm RCA to BNC cable. Guaranteed 75 Ohms end to end including connectors. That is something that an adapter cannot guarantee. With digital coax the connector and wire to connector fusion is the key. T...
Tube DAC with solid state pre and solid state amp Likewise I have the EE minimax DAC with Wyred4sound monoblocks and a Modwright pre-amp. Its all about synergy between components. One compensates for another since there are no absolutes. your room, your ears, your gear. My Modwright pre-amp has s...
which of these 2 subs? For under $800 in my opinion no one beats either Hsu Research or SVS for quality and price.
DAC as an attenuator? Of course it will work. I use my Eastern Electric DAC that way. It has an Alps analog volume and I use it to level match to my other sources. My pre ampis more linear at upper volumes with better control over small changes in volume. Digital atten...
The Jolida JD100A CD player by today's standards? I sold mine. Stupid. I still miss it. I replaced it with a Njoe Tjoeb from Upscale and still think its a great piece. I still recommend the Jolida but DACs have come a long way and today would put my money into a DAC if the system allows. |
