Not all people are good communicators. And burn out from decades (depending on how long the business has been around) of entertaining tire kickers does tend to be a thing, you know...... When Goo Systems was principally connected to the Tri-Art of...
Automatic Room Correction has won the Subwoofer Wars
Room correction has not won the subwoofer wars. What it has done, is that it has subverted high quality acoustics application, room design, and system builder's base level skills, to being  'good enough for Mr Average'. Good enough for those who w...
Thinking about getting a R2R DAC
djones513,040 posts09-29-2020 3:48pmEQ would work as well as an R2R DAC, perhaps better at trying to mimic vinyl. Sorry, that’s not how it works. It has nothing to do with equalization. It has to do with micro and macro inter transient timing an...
Looking for professional made gainclones or chip amps recommendations
The only tube-like solid-state device that works in the direction you are asking for, is the First Watt SIT amps and the Sony V-Fet. the V-Fets are not available in a ’pure’ device that maintains their qualities from input to output. One CAN be bu...
Best "Bang for the Buck" you have owned?
I apologize for listing this one, it’s the show stopper, and some of you have heard about this one before: A MFA made Octal tube based original Venusian Prototype three chassis (Line/switching, Phono, and power supply boxes) full function preamp. S...

The most criminal practice in the speaker industry revealed!! Keep reading
The last sentence in the op makes it clear that this guy is intentionally screwing with the forum: "I am the master audiophile and you have been warned."
I blew up my receiver. Now what?
If the unit does not say it can handle 220v, then do not plug it in. As soon as the equipment is witnessed to have a power transformer in it, which is partially indicated by the great mass of the unit, then it is designed to have ONE voltage used....
Is a captured good tonearm cable better than a high quality one DIN connection?
That sort of thing makes a difference, as this signal is small.  Very small, so interference is an issue and at that level all materials know to humanity make a noticeable difference. Thus, educated and applied fanaticism is the byword of the day.
Is a captured good tonearm cable better than a high quality one DIN connection?
If all things were or are equal, which they rarely are, a single run of cable from the cartridge body to the RCA jacks on the phono preamp --- is best. the hardcore used to run van den hul mono-crystal wire from the cartridge clips back to the RCA...
Msb dacs why not alot of postings
HiFi news compared some high priced DACs. Chord Dave was top, then Mola Mola , various dCS then last MSB. Whatever that's worth. the Brit rags are famous for supporting Brit gear first, euro gear second and then the unwashed colonials last.
Your thoughts on a phono step-up transformer?
I've owned three MFA preamps in the past. two were the magus units. They work well with step up transformers. No need to lose the qualities of tubes, with a transformer in play. The tube  dynamics would be thrown away if you went to any form of SS...
Let's be a little meta: What topics are most hotly debated?

Let's be a little meta: What topics are most hotly debated?
Cables! Let's talk cables!  Really expensive ones! Really expensive power cables! Maybe...someone should make and sell... the first $1000 fuse! Yeah, that's the ticket....
ESA26523 5-way switch for vintage Technics SU-A6 preamp
That switch is fairly common, regarding it’s use in the manufacturing era or window of time. It might be used in a hundred other devices, in that same pin configuration. eBay is your friend, in this case. As well as google image search. You’ve got...
