What makes the biggest difference in sound quality?
Guys, why all the politics? This is audio. Whenever someone starts virtue signaling while simultaneously trying to control our behavior or derail a conversation, perhaps the best course of action is to simply ignore the Karen’s? Also, there is alw...
The New Synergistic Research Purple Fuses
@steph_alex Electricity will flow regardless. The reason to pay attention to fuse directionality is to get better sound quality. And because directionality is ultimately determined by what sounds best in the complexity of not only a single circu...
The New Synergistic Research Purple Fuses
@steph_alex The way to determine fuse directionality for a given circuit, at least for best sound quality, is to listen to a fuse in both directions and select the direction that sounds best. Interesting that you choose a different path, but how d...
What makes the biggest difference in sound quality?
To everyone who said power cords, or the AC chain as being the first part of your system to address after the basics, I agree in most cases. In the 90s when I was flying around the country on my beat to sign new dealers, the first thing I would do...

What makes the biggest difference in sound quality?

How do you explain audiophiles to your friends?
I do not. But I do let them hear my stereos, and if they have any interest at all, they figure it out. The hobby stands on its own, based on merit.
Insightful article by Roger Skoff "Paying For Nothing"
Roger is one of my more intelligent contemporaries, and he is of course spot on. No mincing of words here and good for him.
The New Synergistic Research Purple Fuses
Simguy the best practice would be to replace one Orange fuse with a Purple fuse one fuse change at a time starting in the same direction. If the new Purple fuse immediately sounds better in most ways over Orange in the same orientation, then simpl...
The New Synergistic Research Purple Fuses
You just have to listen, one by one. If you’re currently putting in fuses yourself, changing direction shouldn’t be too much trouble or if it is, have a friend help. This is true for all fuses specialty or otherwise, and is always best practice.
