IMO I would go for the 2M Blue for $225. Maybe best bang for the buck in the whole line

Stylus force digital scales
according to my new digital force gauge my loading was heavy by over .25 grams. it made a substantial improvement when I decreased the weight. I previously used an ortofon scale which was difficult for me to get a good reading. cheers 
What Amp to drive Apogee Centaur Majors?
Had Minors. McCormack amps/preamps would be my choice. DNA series are most affordable. Preamps - ALD Delux by McC 
McCormack , Aragon or Forte
I had a McCormack pre amp - ALD Delux with phono, very nice. I used cables from MIT, Bluejeans, Cardas, Tara Labs and Kimber. All worked well, bluejeancables.com were cheapest.

IMO amps go directly into wall. Digital and phono pre amps seem to benefit the most with PCs. I had an eye opening experience trying Anticable's new Reference Level 3 cord. It made a significant improvement to the sound/music.

$7K to spend on new turntable + arm
Im listening to a Origin Live Resolution with Illustrious tonearm and upgraded power supply. I'm using a dynavector 20x2 with excellent results. See Fremer's review of the same set up. It can be had for about 7k. 
Cleaning new/sealed records?
