Is Exemplar the answer?
Smilin, neither John nor I understand what is at the root of the breakin, all we know is that it is there. Many report that the cd is the most improved on the Exemplar. All I know is that I like the improvement in both. I should also say that now w...
Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
In several instances where I have had others around while seeking to set the VTA, there has been total agreement. I do not think it is so totally subjective as TWL suggests. But I totally agree with him that it is a subjective experience, that you...
Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
How does going to a linear arm negate these adjustments? With it being absolutely level is added to your problems, and if your overhang is off, it is off all the time. The idea of reversing the ground and hot on one channel is old and does not work...
What about Room Lens of different sizes?
I tried a 10 foot long 6 inch snake with two elbows. They did have a more profound effect, but presently I have them in my storage room. Their effect is at a lower frequency, of course, so it would depend on what you are attempting to accomplish.A...
Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
One reason why the Wheaton tonearm was so easy to use was the micro adjustments it allowed. I now have a Schroeder, however, so I now know the benefits of its design. What we really need is a rigid, low mass, easily adjusted linear tracking arm. H...
Why so many Indras?
Garyk, Serguei has only a limited amount of the wire for the Indra and he is selling it through dealers.Michael, I, at least, have learned that it is extraordinary on some components and less so on others.
Sssss...sibilance?
Without changing speakers or their placement, I have lost any concern about sibilance problems. I guess I would say that ac filtering, a quality frontend, and a good stylus cleaner have done the job.
Why so many Indras?
No, the Indra is not discontinued. I use Indra throughout my system except on the Exemplar/Denon 2900 where I prefer the Vacuum Reference. I too think the price is high but relative to the competition at the top, there are many even more expensive...
What is the best phono preamp you have heard?
I also like the Aesthetix, the Syrah, the Steelhead, and the Walker, but the H-Cat is superior to all of them by a big margin.
Are horn speaker colored or more open and dynamic?
Well said. But I think that few recognize that all speaker systems have colorations or suppressed dynamics. I personally cannot deal with the lack of dynamic realism of inefficient speakers or the lack of clarity in the amps that are necessary to ...
Are horn speaker colored or more open and dynamic?
Twl, I entirely agree, but at the time of this initial post, it seemed to be the concensus on Audiogon that all horns were colored.
Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
Kissy, kissy
Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
Frank's arm is the best I have ever heard. On a Loricraft Garrard 501, it replaced my excellent Walker Presidium, which of course has a big pump and long hoses.I continue to use it with the Decca Jubilee. This is a very difficult cartridge to set ...
Is Exemplar the answer?
I heard no difference when I shut off the video. I do hear a most modest improvement with the display off.
Is Exemplar the answer?
At VSAC I heard all three plus the outstanding Allen Wright unit. Conditions were deplorable. I already had the Exemplar in its first version. I bought an Allen Wright unit shortly afterwards. All of this is a moving target as moders are not stuck...
