SHOW attendees: please post speaker reports here
Mike, I agree with you on the Evolution suite. It is clearly the best I have heard them. I had a long conversation with Mr. Dobbins about the table and arm. When I heard the Tidal Sunrays they were using the Bergman tt which I covet.
Why are there so many Mac users?
Jax2. I will have to read the article, but Minerva has no USB port. Also, many do recommend the Mini as first choice over the Powerbook Pros, but the Imac is usually not recommended. Some suggest that the Powerbook running on battery is best. I ha...
Why don't gold based cable fans try Synergistic
Rilbr, I agree that it does not take much gold to make it evident. We disagree, I suspect, if this is good or bad.
Why are there so many Mac users?
Even though I have owned Macs from the beginning, it was Amarra, Weiss, and the use of Firewire that achieved a level of performance that I have not heard in any other digital. I just think it is ridiculous that USB is being used. AES/EBU and S/P ...

I would say that three stood out. The Eficions at THE Show, the Tidal Contrivas, and the YGs in the Synergistic Research suite. I think the Tidal pushed ahead of the others once the Ypsilon amps broken in on Sunday. The Sunrays got promising by Su...
T.H.E. Show 2010
I found three speakers of note at THE Show. The Eficions in StillPoints suite, the Gradients in the Sonic Systems (Amarra) suite, and by Sunday, the AudioNotes. I was sorry I did not hear the ViV Laboratory speakers using a Feastrex driver in the ...

Kwb, all that I know is that I saw readings between 106 and 114 volts, that the amps did not shut down, and that the sound was horrible.
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?
Adwiegert, SR said they would be on their webpage shortly. I did not really take any pictures of them, but I noted that the 4" x 6" x1" box for the speaker cables did have very long and sharp spikes on them. They were not demonstrated any time whi...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?
Adwiegert, as I said they are like the cups in the ARTs system. You can use them opening up or round bottom up. I took pictures of the room but not the MIGs.
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?
Shellie, the SR room was one of the four best sounding rooms at CES or THE Show, quite in contrast to the RMAF. They were using YG speakers and Esoteric electronics unlike at the RMAF but otherwise largely their same components and wires. They did...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?
I am also going and have heard that SR will have the trickle down Galileo tips for use with Apex and other speaker wires and ics. I suspect other things as well.
most articulate speaker
Emorrisiv, let us just disagree.
most articulate speaker
Emorrisiv, I have owned KLHs, Quad 57s, Acustats, Servostatics, Martin Logans, Dayton Wrights, and Soundlabs. I have not owned the new Quads that make a great effort to be a point source. The others never sought this and this is the reason why non...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Dennisboldt, Bob several years ago demoed at CES a pair of monitors with subwoofers. I was quite impressed and then ventured to hear the reference system. I was not impressed but have to say the line voltage where I heard them varied from 106 to 1...

Ozarktom, I too heard the first prototypes of the MBL in Chicago long ago. They were very strident but had great promise if they could be mated with other drivers to get some bass. I still think that is true, but they are less strident now.
