Lampizator Questions
@willgolf My question to you is: Do you know why Lampi started making dac’s with indirect heated tubes and later they switched to DHT and now their flagship unit Horizon is back to using IHT with the wapping price tag of 49,000.00. Did they ran ou...
Dac: Old vs New
Don’t listen to anyone except your ears/brain. This hobby of ours is time consuming but if you are into it, can be extremely rewording and gratifying. It is not for everyone, that’s why audiophiles are on the minority. The process of getting the b...
Used vs. new
My humble advise to you is to buy good, used equipment with a proved reference or near reference status for no more than the current used market value or less. Ask yourself the question - how many of the new/current hifi equipment would stand the ...
How do you find time to enjoy your $$$ speakers and system?
From an early morning to a late at night and sometimes over the entire night.  Music is my drug.  It makes me happy and complete. I also learned  how to multitask while listening to music  and it helps when you're semiretired and working from home...
What can beat Wilson XVX for less money?
Sorry to say, but I’m very disappointed in all of you. You cannot evaluate speaker performance or for that matter hi-fi system performance based on limited time of listening at different venues. Ask yourself the question. How many times you fall i...
What I wish I knew before starting my audiophile journey
@ emrofsemanon Dedicated audiophiles can easily become millionaires if only they were billionaires prior to the hobby.
What I wish I knew before starting my audiophile journey
@limbonner You’re probably aware that some precious metals like gold and silver have the propensity of purifying water - fact. In a similar way, the audio cables/interconnects effectively clean the electrical power coming to your house. All of the...
What I wish I knew before starting my audiophile journey
@1971gto455ho If you really spent years in and out of studios, you should at least have learned that the most desirable studio equipment such as: microphones, speakers, reel to reels and others are vintage. No one cares for the new studio crap mad...
What I wish I knew before starting my audiophile journey
Rule#1:  Stay away from dealers - dealers want your money and they't your friends.  In addition, even if you buy from a reputable dealer, you will loose half of the value of your purchase in the blink of the eye.  Rule#2: Buy only the best used e...
Buyer anxiety
As longer the transaction on Paypal is for merchandise purchase and not   designated to friends or family, you should be fine. Simple call to Paypal will clear the confusion.
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
@Mrdecible Mrd. Does that means that the audio speakers/systems are equally great just because we like them, and how do you extrapolate the fact that some audiophiles have exponentially longer experience? Some have learned from casual listening he...
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
@Johnk. My apologies Johnk - I misconstrued your answer.  We both agree that high efficient speakers are more dynamic.
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
@smoothtech  If the loudspeaker has a different nominal impedance than the volts needed to achieve a watt also changes. Some manufacturers calibrate their one watt to the different impedances. Other manufacturers stick with 2.83 volts regardless ...
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
@simna  With 12w and 95dp  speakers and only 190 sq. ft. room you can most probably  brake your windows in the house.
