Ugliest Speakers???
Absolutely no apologies needed joeylawn. Note I was the one pointing out the other ways people have ragged on them... and given how many different times and ways they have showed up in "ugly speaker threads", not much one can do about it :^)And in...
Ugliest Speakers???
Joeylawn, I happen to like the looks (no accounting for taste I guess) but people tend to not be very neutral on the looks. I do admit that when you sit in front of them, they do sometimes have this "giant flower" thing (think The Wall) going on.....
Ugliest Speakers???
Was wondering if we were going to get the Eurythmies. On AA, they have been compared to Spongebob Squarepants and also Yosemite Sam (in addition to the Star Wars singer).
iPhone as music server remote control
As to the what else... it has wifi connectivity and the Safari browser (you could theoretically control your complete iTunes implementation on the iPod Touch if you downloaded directly over the wifi connection and did not have a PC but space is li...
iPhone as music server remote control
Playback is on the iPod Touch. If you want to record, make new playlists, or otherwise manipulate iTunes, you would need a keyboard (and something to see what you were manipulating presumably). The iPod Touch is really cool. I got one over the wee...
What speakers can b considered as world reference?
I agree with Audiobroke, and with Drew's response. There is lots of "live" music which sounds terrible because of the intermediate amplification/reproduction (like most rock concerts and outdoor concerts without a "wave guide" bowl behind the musi...
iPhone as music server remote control
Streetdaddy, yes you need bluetooth for the macmini/itouch connection. iTouch as a remote for playback works BUT getting the music on the server, manipulating the music, iTunes, etc requires a monitor and keyboard. A cheaper version of the same th...
GRASS IS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE
My parents still have a pair of NS1000Ms. They sound great but they really need good stands to shine. I have often thought about getting a used pair for a second system but they do need their space and I don't have it for that big a second system.
Fujitsu Plasma Screens Any thoughts?
I too recommend to dig around the avsforum. Slightly off-topic aside - As a company, Pioneer is betting its whole life on plasma and the results show in the new "Kuro" monitor. It is fantastic (though a fair bit more expensive than anything else o...
Has anyone had any experience using a MELCO tt ?
Let me know for the Melco(s). If you know a good machinist and you can source the metal, and what you really want is that kind of base and a great hunking slab of metal for a platter, you might dig around the Teres website. You could get a DC pull...
Has anyone had any experience using a MELCO tt ?
Thanks Fihihifi. I would be happy to get a mail from you with more info if you manage to find a 3560 (or other) in Japan that you decide not to purchase. I can also reflect impressions on price info regarding the one you were offered based on what...
Has anyone had any experience using a MELCO tt ?
I have not heard a Melco but someone I trust who has heard Melcos and all the relevant Micros told me that comparable Micros would be the larger models (5000 and 8000 series, with a possible nod to the 1500). Given the mass involved on the 3560 (h...
Harman/Levinson/Proceed/Lexicon/Revel/ Deal Busted
Well, forecasts for Q1 next year are out, look horrible, and the would-have-been buyers have decided to pay their $225mil to walk away. Now it is a matter of whether Mr. Harman and board want to take them to court...
B&W Name Change Theory
I ain't looking for the last word either. The last one my family has was bought in 1992 or something like that - and it still is a good car 15yrs on. I personally happen to like Bimmers better ('cept for the iDrive thingy). I also happen to like m...
Harman/Levinson/Proceed/Lexicon/Revel/ Deal Busted
Onhwy61,KKR is up there. I recently attended a presentation where a KKR country-head spoke and his intro said something to that effect (something like $100bn+ in revenues and 250,000 employees across all "portfolio companies").
