90 degree din cable?
What are you trying to accomplish? Is it that you already have a right-angle phono cord and you want to find a vintage Japanese long arm to match it? Do you have a clearance problem under your table? If it is the first problem, a Micro Seiki 505L ...
90 degree din cable?
A straight cable is also required on the AC4000. It's 3cm deep to the base of the pins - about 1.5cm from the lip.
MM Cartridge or MC Cartridge
I would send it to a cartridge retipper and IF the compliance match to your arm was appropriate (and it probably shouldn't be too far off if the Maestro was suggested to you), I would buy a used MM cartridge (like the ones Raul mentioned) here on ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
My apologies to all for not having read the description in sufficient detail. It is there for all in gory detail. It all makes perfect sense now. Now I'm curious about the 'more benefits not apparent on first sight'... :^)It certainly looks like a...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
If it comes with all 23 templates, it would make sense for a few of us, but one thing with the Mint is that when you sell the arm, you can include the protractor with it.Wonder why the templates are also $65 apiece... Can't really use a template w...
Considering analog...but nervous
Congrats. You jumped in waaaay deep first time in. But if you like it that much, you've got something going. Warning - as Mitch4t suggests it is a sickness of sorts. I'd hold off on getting rid of the digital. You have a lot invested in the music ...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
Good on you! I think getting a great result from experimentation is wonderful. I'm very happy for you that it worked. I'm going to venture out on a limb and say that you would not keep the same sound if you spiked the table and floated the armpod ...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
Dgob,Does that mean your TT is on pneumatic footers and your armpod is on spikes?
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
Dgob & Banquo,I wish you the best of luck. I may try to do something similar just to see what happens. If I eventually do, I will also try it with a single plate underneath which could be mounted on pneumatic/magnetic isolation footers. As I h...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
Banquo,The point of weighing down the armpod is to couple it to the surface below (which in turn should couple it better to the TT). Putting separate AT616s under the table and the armpod separately negates the effect of adding on the weight to th...
Why Use Aluminum for a TT Platter?
Chris,I was wondering what physical phenomenon generates the torque ripple in a slotless, coreless motor. Any thoughts?
Why Use Aluminum for a TT Platter?
Chris/Teres,My understanding of the technical term for cogging means either slots or cores are required (though I could imagine where badly-designed slotless coreless motors could have other iron present. I assume that the 'cogging' issues you men...
Why Use Aluminum for a TT Platter?
If you use enough aluminum, it can get pretty heavy. It is a lot easier to work, and a lot cheaper than using stainless steel, bronze, brass, copper, feric alloys, etc. When you are trying to mass produce (and keep in mind, in the 70s, companies m...

The Best Audiophile Earphones headphones and Amp
As others have suggested, take the time to figure out what you want. If you want closed headphones, then go for that. Open headphones require a quiet area. They also require people around you accept music leakage. I have a pair of AKG K1000s which...
