Stand alone phono stage? I second the Phonomax. I have lived with a phonomax for over 6 months now and am very pleased. I compared to several high end phono preamps and it was more natural and involving. Just no comparison to the Black Cube. It does not have a great deal ...
Shure V15--A Good Cartridge? I would disagree with the post by Sdcampbell. I think the Shure is overall better that the Grado Reference. My experience is that the Shure V15V is a great cartridge in the right arm. I have owned several Shures over the years as well as many othe...
Owners of Bel Canto Evo 200.2 Please Help I don't think you will like the EVO unless you get a tube preamp. The amp with solid state preamps is just too dry sounding with or without power conditioning. Hope things work out.
Spendor s3/5 vs ATC scm 7 Audio Visonary--Is your opinion based on the new ATC scm 7 or the old 7? Thanks
Odyssey Stratos compared to Marsh A400S Bob, I have had Epos es-11s and driven them with the Marsh A200s and several other amps. I have also heard the Odyssey amps but not side by side. I preferred the Marsh to the Odyssey overall. Both are great values. The Marsh has more tonal color a...
Short Out Plugs Hi this is an interesting discussion but is there a difference in sound when using shorting plugs?
Anyone has Marsh amp ? Hi I have the A200 and It is a terrific amp especially for the money. I listened to the Bel Canto EVO amp and thought the Marsh was better. Hope this helps.---I have not heard the A400 and would be interested in the differences.
best ss preamp w/ remote used under 1000 I suggest the Marsh solid state preamp. I compared the Marsh to the Adcom preamp that is so highly rated and the Marsh sounded much better. It gave the proper color to the music and was more involving. It was more detailed. The Adcom was very good...
Bel Canto EVO 200.2 I want to comment about Vintgeguru's experiences with the Marsh as I can only assume the Marsh was not fully broken in. Mine took about 150 hours to totally break in and was rough the first 50 to 60 hours. I am not experiencing any harshness or br...
Bel Canto EVO 200.2 I have had the EVO in my system several times for several days at a time. It is a good amp but has a dryness in the midrange and can get congested in complex passages. I ended up getting a Marsh amp and prefer it over the EVO.
Marsh A400 vs Bryston 4B-ST In a direct comparison that I heard the Marsh sounded more musical and detailed. It also sounded subjectively like it has more power. The Bryston, of course, has the better warranty.
Need a good tuner and there aren't many? I have listened to or owned most of the best known tuners including Mac Mr 71s, 78s, Marantz 10Bs. The best overall tuners I have owned that are solid state are the Naim and Linn tuners. They are very simular sounding to a tweaked Marantz 10b. The...
Best DVD player as transport for DAC? Bel Canto recommends (for the money) the Pioneer DV 525 or the Denon which is essentially a pioneer. One question I have is the Pioneer has been discontinued and replaced by the Dv 333. I don't know if the 333 is as good a transport and has the 24...
What the heck is Resolution Audio Just following the great deal of info on the Resolution Audio players. Has anyone compared them with the much less expensive Bel Canto Dac 1? Is there enough diff to justify the higher price?
McIntosh - is it that great? In general McIntosh is average sounding equip. Their older power amps, which I have owned a few of, are not as good as older Marantz and Arc equip. Some of the older preamps both tube and ss were worse than the amps. The newer equip is in general ... |
