What should I upgrade?
AKG 701s are very good, for sure. My thinking is that OP is on a budget, likes the Senn sound. The 580s (and 590s I think) are considered very very close to the 600s and are much less expensive. That might enable the OP to get a headphone amp, as ...
What should I upgrade?
The HRTs are very very good, a real value leader, but given your budget constraints, you might want to consider a DAC/headphone amp combo. If you like the Senn sound, the 580s are considered very nearly as good as the 600 or 650 and much cheaper.
What should I upgrade?
If your primary mode of listening is headphones, I would upgrade them AND get a stand along headphone amp. Give us a budget and we can be more specific w recommendations.

Bass leaves after amp warms up?

Everything about this is wrong...
I suspect that back in the day, they never thought about 180 gm or 200 gm records.

The naked autoformers are a lot less than $1K, IIRC. I'm going to discourage buying an amp w the intention of using it as a test vehicle and then returning it. It's not ethical and contributes to the difficulty in getting items for legitimate home...
Anyone going to the NY Audio show today to Sunday
what impressed me most was how LOW the performance to price ratio was in just about every room. I heard very few systems that really sounded good to my ears and many VERY expensive systems that sounded pretty darn lousy.Agree, Dodgealum, but I was...
Shipping Help
Consider heavyweight wardrobe boxes from U-Haul. Agree w using rigid foam but want to add a couple of caveats:1. Reinforce the corners before you put in the foam sheets.2. Make sure that the speaker and the foam CANNOT MOVE AT ALL inside the box. ...
Joseph Audio Pearls?
The two times I heard them at shows they always sounded very good. Good speaker for sure, but also good set-up and ancillary equipment.

All you gotta do is listen and you'll understand why Coincident gets mentioned.
Can I tweak L-R balance by differntial biasing?
Don c55- I had not thought of that. I do have 10 dB Rothwell attenuators. I'll try that but I believe the difference is not that great.
