Replace amp or speakers ?
I would think that Rowland amps are in another league based on rep, but have not heard either.
A serious blow to Canadian audiophiles, must read
Hey Lugnut- So that's why I spend so much time overindulging in audio now ;~) My wife thinks its because I'm obsessive-compulsive, but now I can tell its just a side effect of my rehabilitation.

Marco- I did not think that you endorsed driving while under the influence. I just wanted to point out that for those whose experience may be 20-30 yrs old, that things have changed dramatically. Its like the difference between 3.2 beer and 200 pr...
Best 2-CH AMP at $2500
How about SMc modified McCormack DNA 1? Or 0.5 if you can get by on 100 wpc? You could go pretty high up the ladder after paying $800 or so for a DNA-1 and Steve McCormack's service and support is world class.
Biamping 101
Clueless as usual provides many clues. Link is excellent, but of course only applies to horizontal bi-amping. Vertical bi-amping does not require an external crossover AND reduces crosstalk. However, Macro gives good advice. Bi-amping is probably ...

Marco- I agree with most of what you have written with one exception that may be significant. Much of the marijuana available in the US today is FAR more potent than it was 20-30 yrs ago. So potential harm of use while driving/operating machinery,...
I miss my Tubes
If you can go with just one source, you might want to consider a Micro-zotl, esp. of your room is not big. Right now I am listening w/90dB/w/m monitors in a 12X14 room and it sounds awefully nice (and its a great headphone amp as well).
Biamping 101
Depends on whether you want to vertically or horizontally bi-amp. W.2 identical amps, you could do either, w/o an external x-over, IF your speakers are set up for bi-wires (I think Thiels are not). For horizontal, one amp drives the L & R woof...

I have seen the light.
OK, now I need leads to good current LPs. Where does everyone get them. Used can only be mined so much. On-line or sources in CT would be appreciated. Happy Holidays everyone.
Preamp Deal of the Century
Jjprez- Not sure what the actual #s are, but its high gain for sure! Selectable loading w/a 4 way slider "on the fly" and plenty of gain to handle a 0.25 mv mc cart.
I have seen the light.
Nrchy- I had put it away somewheres when I sold my old Sonographe, and could not find it. It galled me to pay big bucks for a clamp I knew I had hidden away, so I was using a cheapy I picked up on ebay. I have not yet even heard let along tried hi...
Tube Amps and young children - avoiding burns etc.
Antique Sound Lab is another that has cagework, as well as some/most ARC, of course. If you would consider a hybird, the Trinity and Phoenix amps from Randy White have a tube voltage amp and mosfet current amps, running in class A. The heatsinks g...
Microzotl start-up filament flare?
Herman- Thanks for the info. I love this amp. So far I am using it primarily to drive HD-600 cans. It is very transparent, fast, smooth, plenty of detail, lots of extension at both ends. I am awaiting a pair of pretty nice monitors to try it out a...
Wadia 861 or keep Electrocompaniet mk2
What, an upgrade that the manufacturer describes as bringing their product to a whole new level? Providing "compelling musical realism" and "demonstrably superior sound quality" Will wonders never cease? Sounds like it should have been called BSot...
