Emerald Physics CS-2, Opinions Please
Kck- You may call it "threadcrapping" (new term to me but I am way too old to be a digital native); I imagine Tvad calls it healthy skepticism seasoned with a soupcon of cynicism. I don't think any insult was intended, but then again, neither of u...
Integrated amps on a 1,000 dollar budget
The Shanling has been very well reviewed. Also you may want to consider the Music Hall Maven; used at around $750; if you need to save space, you can rip CDs to your computer and output digital to the Maven's built in DAC. My friend has one and I ...
Emerald Physics CS-2, Opinions Please
KckI re-read my post to Tvad above and realize it may come off as a trifle aggressive. You got that right. Agressive being the operative adjective; trifle being the understatement of the week. Chill out, my friend. I saw the thread up until then as...
Upgrade turntable, arm or cartridge?
What are you using as a phono stage?
System solution
My recommendation would be to get a pair of used Triangles AND a decent integrated and use the HK through the tape outs as a tuner. Used NAD 320 BEEs go for about $250-300 and used Triangle Celius for $650-750; right in your wheel house $ wise.
Using big spades on a barrier block.
When I had VAndys I found that the plastic "ears" that projected upward were slightly flexible and with gentle pressure on the spade, I could compress it slightly and then there was enough "give" on the plastic to get spades in. Unfortunately, if ...
Tubes?
There are 2 options. 1. Use a tester, but some only give you a good-bad decision, no idea of how good. Its been a long time since they've been at the five and dime (a long time since there has even been a five and dime), but you may find one at yo...
Who makes these? what is the value on them?
You will get less b.s. here, although sometimes the folks at fleabay overpay for stuff.
External Crossover/Vandersteen Sub
You will gain more by getting a fixed value x over.
Should I get advents?
They are definitely worth $30. They were THE moderate price high quality rock speaker back in the day.
SNEAK PEEK: Lansche 4.1 Loudspeaker
Hi Chris- I just saw your reply and I'm a bit dumbfounded and I think, flattered that you took the time to write such a lengthy reply. Cynical I am. Way too cynical and sarcastic. Its a personality flaw. I say that honestly and with a straight fac...
Lamm LL2 preamp VS First Sound 4.0 MKII preamp
I can't comment directly on their synergy with the Lamm amp, but I've heard both the FS Dlx Mk2 and the LL2 pre-amps. The First Sound is superior, IMO.
SNEAK PEEK: Lansche 4.1 Loudspeaker
I think the concern here is that if us consumers are not allowed to offer items for sale, i.e., "advertise", then perhaps commercial interests should not either. It is a fine line. Answering questions about a product is one thing, a 14 paragraph "...
audio from comcast and other providers
I would strongly recommend taking the digital out (optical = toslink) to a digital in on your HTR if available. It will be much better than the audio out. The cable box has very cheap DAC.
