Soliloquy 6.5 vs. Coincident Super Eclipse same $ The Super E's are superb. I had them before moving up to the Coincident Total Victory, however would have no issue recommending them highly. I found them less fussy re: room palcement than the gentleman above- I had them in a 10'x16' room (along t...
Review: Antique Sound Labs Hurricane Tube amp I'm using the ASL 1009 845-based monoblocks, and have found that like the Hurricanes, they sound organic and true to the source with extremely good transparency. Good decision on the 'Canes- enjoy!
What is best center speaker? Totem Mani-2- used 5 of them in an HT system driven by Theta Dreadnaught (400 wpc into 4 ohms)- interal dual isobarik woofers- could take whatever I threw at it...
Is this a deal or what .... Tireguy- yes, the Emm Labs is the new thing and probably excellent considering the technology advance- it sounds enticing, however out of my league $$$, as Jtinn has quoted me full list @ $10k, and that's just for the dac! He wants another $5k for...
Is this a deal or what .... Tireguy- why the sale of the Cap, and what have you moved to?Sorlowski- Jtinn is right re: the digital stuff- I have a Spectral transport (uses similar VRDS clamping technology to Wadia), and use an Audio Note Dac. My philosophy is to get a transp...
Choose between CD to power amp or passive pre ? UncleJeff- agreed- not necessary with the Cap- I owned the Cap for a couple o' years and drove it straight in with good results.
Halo JC-1, Part 2 These sound cool- I wonder how they would compare to the big Sim Audio W-10 monoblocks...
Coincident Total Victory owners I can't comment on the Mahler's- I don't believe we have a Canadian dealer for them in this part of Ontario.Re: placement for the TV's, you could e-mail Israel Blume (iblume@coincidentspeaker.com) as to the ramifications of various placement ideas...
Has anyone tried this? I run Direct tv toslink digital out to a GW Labs digital converter, then to Audio Note 3.1 balanced dac. Results were startingly good, only problem was the dolby digital stations don't seem to come through properly.
Choose between CD to power amp or passive pre ? agreed on the Aleph L- resolution was very good, but yes, a dry quality I couldn't get over- have not heard the P- that might be the ticket...
Bent Silver TX102 compared to Placette RVC I had to give the Bent a pass (although John the Bent guy is great to deal with)- not near the band-width pass-through of the Audion- perhaps Placette better? Would be very curious to hear the Silver Rock as well...
Wash, Cut, Polish & Demagnetize just did the Pepsi challenge (part 1)- Ella F trimed vs untrimmed. I think trimed was (very slightly) better, but too close to call at this point. Part 2 will come when the new preamp gets here- this temporary passive thingie I'm using isn't helpi...
Review: WAVAC MD-300B Tube amp intersting re: the 'weight' thing. I have found the same benefit on the digital front with my Audio Note 3.1 Balanced dac (also transformer coupled)- I am now addicted to the 'weightiness' of the sound- fantastic- organic, and real!By the way- wha...
Personal amp evolution I have to update my previous post! Now using ASL 1009 845-based 60 watt monos w mods by Israel Blume of Coincident- I am finding them a great match with his Total Victory speakers...
Resolution Audio Opus vs. Audio Aero Capitole MKII Alred- I'm not at all surprised by that- I have not found a one-box player that has beaten my Spectral/Audio Note trans/dac setup- FAR superior to the Capitole (which I owned for a year and a half) |
