How is LAMM LP2 compares to the more recent phono
Thuchan, thanks for the comment. I was having problem with my equipments for awhile and was away for a bit so I have not had a chance to try LAMM phono yet but later on next week, my local LAMM dealer should bring over his phono for me try for awh...
Korg tascam etc. recorders any comments?
Neville,Playback Design is supposed to release a new USB interface that will support upto DSD2. The DAC itself already upconvert everything to DSD2 for decoding so theoretically, you should be able to play DSD2 files via computer with Playback Des...
Phono Cable "breakout"
Synergistic Research Tricon phono cables come as 2 separate RCA cables so that should also work for you. I am using SR Tricon with my VPI table also.
Usher DMD tweeter upgrade: worth it?
I have Be-20 with the original tweeter and last year got the new DMD tweeter installed.First I have to say that I could not have care less about beryllium tweeter being beryllium/titanium tweeter. I bought the original speakers because I like what...
is there a best music player on the computer?
I forgot to add that XXHighend seems to be the only PC program so far that I find to rival Mac Pure Music/Amarra but then again, I have not heard the current version of Jriver.
is there a best music player on the computer?
I have not tried JRiver in a long time. I heard the current version is significantly better than previous versions I tried about 2 years ago by quite a bit. Over the past 2 years, I have been using XXHighend. All I can say is that when I started u...
Tonearm for TW Acustic and heavier cartridge
Thanks for all the comment. I just switched Koetsu out for Air Tight PC-1 supreme that I have been using on my VPI. Looks like it is a much better match than Koetsu. On VPI, I think Koetsu and Air Tight was pretty close to each other in term of le...
Tonearm for TW Acustic and heavier cartridge
Dgad, thanks for your comment. Currently, I am using VPI Classic with all the upgrades (SDS, ring clamp, valhalla wire/VTA tower etc). (I know some people will say that Air Tight and Koetsu that I own is way beyond what the Classic can do but let'...
Tonearm for TW Acustic and heavier cartridge
Thanks for the comment so far. Unfortunately, I am not in the position to make any fair comparison so far. The comment is not specific to Koetsu only but more for cartridges around 12-13g in general (if I am not mistaken , Air Tight is 12g, Koetsu...
Balanced SUT, what's available?
Thanks for the tip on Ypsilon. I have been looking at it for awhile but there is no local dealer here. However, I will be in Hong Kong next month and there is a dealer there so I will see if I can audition it. Have you compare it to other SUT?
How is LAMM LP2 compares to the more recent phono
Mgottlieb, thanks for the input on Onyx. That's what I will be using as well. Nolitan, have you compared EAR88PB to EAR324 by any chance?I auditioned EAR 324 in my system awhile back and while it was nice, I was not impressed enough at the time to...
How is LAMM LP2 compares to the more recent phono
I wonder if anyone has tried Air Tight Step up transformer since it has 3 inputs with adjustable impedance. I wonder if that would match well with MM input on LAMM. There isn't much information on Air Tight SUT that I could find unfortunately. My K...
How is LAMM LP2 compares to the more recent phono
This is the confusing part for me. I looked at old Stereophile review and it did say that loading is 40 ohms. However, if I am not mistaken, the step up transformer inside LAMM is 20 db or 10x the gain which would make it natural impedance around ...
How is LAMM LP2 compares to the more recent phono
Thanks for all the inputs so far. I did not realize about fixed MC input impedance. As of right now, I am using Ortofon T100 step up transformer with my cartridge so that should not be a problem but I do plan to run a second cartridge/arm and that...
XV1t vs. Koetsu
I have not heard XV-1t either but have listened to Onyx, Rosewood and XV-1s in my system. Nolitan's description of XV-1s is very accurate. Koetsu as a whole offer smoother, richer more pleasing midrange. However Onyx offers more extended top and m...
