Anyone using Squeezebox server on Mac OS X?
Traudio, can you be a little more specific when you say that Squeezecenter 7.6 is "totally screwed up" with Lion?I am still using Snow Leopard until all of my ducks are in a row to make the upgrade and retain full capabilities for getting back to ...
Backing Up My Ex HD Problems....
I second the above recommendation to browse the drive and see what is filling it up. Likely it is either you've created a duplicate copy of the folder, or you first deleted the folder without going to the trash and selecting "empty trash", which r...
Need inexpensive hybrid int amp
I listened to a Jolida 100-something hybrid amp (tube pre + SS amp) several years ago and thought it sounded wonderful for the price. If I had had room in my bedroom, I would have gladly purchased it for a bedroom system.Very good bang for the buc...
Android Tablets - Plausible to use asMusic Server?
I see tablets as currently being used to CONTROL a music server, but not be the music server itself. For most of us, we will require much more storage space and more processing power for ripping CD's and distributing music data to (potentially) mu...
Anyone using Squeezebox server on Mac OS X?
Has anyone upgraded to Lion and tested its compatibility with the Squeezebox Server or any Mac-based music server system? I'm holding off for a few days to see how it shakes out before upgrading.Michael
Small monitors/bookshelves for classical music
The positioning of any speakers you get will hinder their full potential, so it's wise not to be spending a large sum of money for speakers for this use.Your list so far seems well thought out and good value speakers. Some other speaker suggestions...
Appreciate recommendations for SS preamp purchase
So it sounds like your first priority is transparency.I would try an Edge Si-1m or Musical Fidelity A3.2cr for your listening preferences (or, for a little more, the Musical Fidelity A308cr is a step up in that department). And the Bryston BP-25 i...
Appreciate recommendations for SS preamp purchase
If you already have Bryston gear, you can consider the BP-25 for probably slightly more than your $1K limit. I've never personally liked the Bryston sound, finding it a little too sterile, but many people do.There are plenty of other choices, incl...
Best Integrated Amp You Ever Heard?
Totem made an integrated way back when. It was an ugly thing, shaped like a semi-cylinder. But it sounded fantastic (especially for a SS integrated amp to someone who has a clear preference for tubes). I've never heard the Totem Forests sound any ...
Best Bang 4 the $ Intergrated Amp
For SS bang for the buck, I've been partial to some of the NAD offerings for the past several years (I second the 326BEE, above, at around $400 used). Another alternative that I like is the Music Hall Mambo ($500-650 used), a warmish SS integrated...
Last generation receiver to pair with oppo BDP-95
AAnative, I understand your motivations for looking for a pre-HDMI receiver, but audio and video processing technology has rapidly improved over the past few years. You might be well off going with a suggestion like Bill had above. The ability to ...
Integrateds with DAC?
John, lack of a USB port generally isn't much of a problem. There are plenty of USB to S/PDIF converters out there. I use the Hagerman HagUsb (or something like that) in my office system, which uses the Mambo. I also have a Squeezebox in the offic...
What are some good tube amps that rock? KT88's?
ASL Hurricanes should be able to rock quite well. I believe those monsters are around 200W.Michael
Integrateds with DAC?
This question comes up periodically, so you might check the archives for other answers.I'll add the Music Hall Mambo to the list of integrateds with the DAC.Michael
Anyone using Squeezebox server on Mac OS X?
Yes, you're right, I can relatively easily add space to my old Linux box. But the limiting factor at some point may become the horsepower of the machine, although it doesn't take an enormously fast machine to function as the Squeezebox Server. And...
