What have you been listening to these five weeks?
Stuff I dragged back from France this summer: Petrucciani father (guitar) and son (piano) jazz; a ridiculously good street band I heard in Avignon, whose CD I just had to buy;unfortunately call themselves Que Passa (what do they know from French?....
Speaker Cables, One side longer- bad idea?
Hmmm...such fun, Bry.But I believe the difference in electrical properties of the unequal cables will result in a different LOADING of the driving amplifier, thereby slightly changing the frequwncy response of each side, and THAT's what one could ...
Still need help for CD PLAYER .. please
I'll sell you my awfully good original Rotel 855 with the heavy transport and recent factory mod of new analogue stage and motor, for $250; prefer you add the Neuance Alpha I mated to it for another $80.Don't know if I'm breaking a rule here, but ...
Need advice for a front end
Another vote for the Electrocompaniet EMC-1, especially in MkII guise....
compare and contrast
I found N804s to be pretty lean...especially compared to N803. either coheres well in the nearfield, though, so be careful to match to your room/listening geometry. I suspect you'll be happier with the Tempos. What about the REVEL F30? Great speak...
Anyone read the recent Stereophile article on cables?
Sean: current one.
What music is best for an Audiophile Society Meeting?
Yeah, that Fairfield Four disc is GREAT!
How could surround sound be used in an audiophile system?
Whoah! Can't get soundstaging depth or width with two channels?? You gotta be kidding!? Alright, maybe if your room is a mess, or you are forced to set up your pair very near the front or sidewalls (ala typical HT setup), then synthesizing space r...
Help i'm lost... what cd player to buy ??
See my ad for my original heavy-transport Rotel 855.Ern
what speakers do the best "disappearing act"??
I'll proffer a vote for the Parsifal Encores (but with Alephs!) too....Many interesting posts, folks, but my first thought relates to the inaccuracy in the pair-matching process. Image flotation specificity is wildly affected by acoustic loading A...
Making cables pretty
I mounted my monos UNDER the speakers onto the floor joists, and threaded the cables up though the baseboard.Only a few feet of silver ribbon "flows" from the walls.Ern
I GIVE UP
I didn't take the time to read the preceding posts (sorry), but do I remember correctly an interview with Gayle some time ago where someone had affixed "wings" to his MLs towarm them up? Isn't this basically a shift in the 2pi/4pitransition, thus ...
Where is the weak chain in my system?
Tell us about your room! Carpeting, speaker position, sidewall issues, etc. Ern
Musical or scientific/technical background?
Doug,More importantly, I think you owe Marakanetz an apology, eh?His moniker should have at least offered you a clue that English is not his first language. Wider berths, please....Following a decade of baroque training and short-wave listening, I...
Here's How I Make My Equipment Racks
Ken,No wonder you're running 4 weeks out! Get off the thread and get back to work--my check's enroute!;>) Ern
