2023 AXPONA Show Report
I went last year.  Once was enough. I have by now purchased my "forever" music system.  Going will only tempt me more.  Attending the Estolon room, the Von Schweikert room, the Tannoy room (Upsacle) and the Legacy room was very enjoyable but I can...
un-becoming an audiophile
It’s an addiction, buying new stereo gear.  Would I have been content with my Focal 1027 Electras, MacIntosh MA6900, Oppo universal disc player and Kimber 8TC speaker cables and Hero interconnects, all purchased in 2007?  They all sounded pretty d...
Psychologist dissects Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon'
In agree with everything bonmanp said about Roger Waters. To borrow a line from another commenter on a different site, Waters is is just another pr__k in the wall. I enjoy all of PF's later albums but my favorite is still Wish You were Here, wheth...
Beatles vs. Stones
All good comments.  I like them both. The Beatles and The Stones are completely different from each other. Why should I have to choose?  And +1 for Sympathy For The Devil.
Upgrade to McIntosh
@wolfgangamadeusaudiophiliac    I was referring to the change in the stock tubes in the MA352 hybrid integrated amp, not the MC275, as  mentioned by willg 1985. I assume one changes the same type of tube but of a different brand.
Upgrade to McIntosh
@willg1985   Can you be specific on the Tung-sol tubes you replaced the stock tubes with.  I'd like to try it.  Thanks
Did the Old Receivers Sound Good?
I would agree with Russ69, based on what I know now.  Back in the late 60's and early 70's, I wanted to upgrade from FM radio to something better and knowing nothing better I fell upon Stereo Review. That magazine was filled with advertisements fo...
Upgrade to McIntosh
I have always liked McIntosh and have had McIntosh solid state Integrated amps. I have never been a tube guy. Not necessarily because I thought solid state was better but I didn’t have the opportunity to demo separate tube preamp and amp nor the f...
Spikes on tower speakers
Butcher blocks.  I had moved my older floor standing speakers from a hardwood floor into a small carpeted room.  They sounded muffled.  I ordered spikes from the manufacturer and two hardwood butcher blocks from amazon. About $100 for all this.  S...
Tube or solid state
@ dreas:   I ended up with McIntosh's MA352 to "solve" this dilemma. Never looked back. +1 for the MacIntosh MA352
Tube Preamp --> Solid State Amp
I took the easy way out with a McIntosh 352 hybrid integrated amp - tube pre, ss power. I've never been a separates guy and this hybrid is my first foray into anything tubey.
New Pink Floyd release
Sorry guys - I misread the article.  I get it now.
New Pink Floyd release
I have always thought that "woke" people were incredibly superficial and dumb.  I read MWINKC's link.  I now think they are stupid beyond belief.  The new album's logo is but a variation of the original  - showing the breakup of light in a prism. ...
Speaker cable recommendations
@ cray   I recently bought 2.5 meters (8 ft) of their least expensive silver cables – 26 gauge silver.  It cost me less than $1,000.  They are being used in a kitchen/dining area with a vintage McIntosh 6200 integrated amp (that I’ve owned for 34 ...
Speaker cable recommendations
I'm not a tube guy but you might want to check out Lavricables out of Canada. Their cables are light and flexible.  They are pure silver if that's your preference.  They have 4 levels to choose from. Depending on the model you choose, you can get ...
