Best bookshelf speakers
@motokokusanagi1 This thread is fun, but also nuts. The best advice I can give is go look up local dealers, check out what brands they carry, then make a shortlist and have as many auditions as possible, ideally with your own gear. Speakers are co...
Has anyone added a small subwoofer to 2 channel and been thrilled with the result?
Thanks for the explanation guys, and sorry to hijack the thread.
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
It seems strange to ask a question and request that the full range of answers not be given.
Has anyone added a small subwoofer to 2 channel and been thrilled with the result?
Naive question: doesn't a sub mess with the image?Say you've got a bass guitar mic'd mostly in the left channel but then part of that instruments frequency response plays over the sub which is in the middle of the two speakers. How can that possib...
Nuforce STA200
@brad1138 Stuff- I searched and searched for someone that has had both the Vidar and the Nuforce, never found one. There is someone on "superbestaudiofriends" who posted he had both on order over a year ago, but he never chimed back in with his th...

From what I’ve read, and in an email from Mads, they require at least 300 hours breakin and need some power.Great, so just when the 30 day in home trial is expiring they may sound like they're supposed to.
Bluesound Node 2i vs Raspberry Pi SQ
@useryI I appreciate the help, and Archimago's blog.I'll probably go with the Bluesound Node 2i first since I'm impatient to hear my first nice system. I'll look at a Raspberry Pi DAC as my first upgrade when/if the itch strikes, or when I'm simpl...
Passive preamp to a power amp?
Sounds like I've unwittingly stirred up an old controversy! For my first decent system I don't think I should be too controversial so I'll probably just go Saga and see how it sounds passive vs active.
Affordable integrated pure class A?
@iopscrl What are your other components ?  What speakers ?  How much power do you need ?I'm starting from scratch and eyeing speakers that are not that sensitive - only 85hz. So I don't think SET will work, will it?
Affordable integrated pure class A?
@sleepwalker65 If you have gathered anything from this discussion thread, it should be that you have to audition the equipment you intend to buy.   Over the years,  i have heard great sounding Class A amps and some really expensive awful sounding ...
Bluesound Node 2i vs Raspberry Pi SQ
@usery I've got an iPhone and a PC. I'm probably going to buy an android tablet. No home network yet - I'm just moving so I'll be starting from scratch. What type of router should I be looking for? Just one that I can plug a hard drive into?Thanks...
Passive preamp to a power amp?
@georgehifi To me nothing sound as transparent and dynamic as going source direct to poweramp, using the source’s digital domain volume control if it has one.An interesting twist to the last stage of assembling my system. Paul from PS Audio talks ...

You know what some enterprising member should do? Record every speaker in existence with the same HQ recording equipment and post on Youtube. Then record every speaker with every combination of gear. Thanks in advance! ;)
