Please clear up my confusion re: meaning of "balanced" !
@tvad:Looks like you've put this issue to rest, once and for all. My technical knowledge is obviously lacking. Very kind of you to take the time to look into this!   @speakermaster:If that's a possibility, the La Voce does have a polarity switch. ...

Please clear up my confusion re: meaning of "balanced" !
@jjss49:Thanks.  I'm simply wanting to know whether connecting the Schiit Jotunheim to my Aqua La Voce S2 with a pair of XLR IC's could result in noise or signal loss. I've emailed Schiit about this.
Inexpensive, neutral-to-warm sounding SS headphone amp?
I'm very sensitive to highs, hence my (perhaps) over-concern with straying into fatiguing territory. . .
Inexpensive, neutral-to-warm sounding SS headphone amp?
Yes, indeed-- the Aqua DAC is on the warm side but my headphones are not...I will probably try the Jotunheim first, see how I like it.
WHAT SONG TOUCHES YOUR HEART THE MOST?
My answer will depend upon the mood I'm in when asked. . . . . . and, furthermore, there are many ways of being "moved". I have to assume that the guy in the car next to me in bumper-to-bumper freeay traffic who's got all the windows rolled down a...
Please clear up my confusion re: meaning of "balanced" !
Hi tvad:Thanks for taking the time to read through the specs and provide me with additional clarification. I really like the Aqua DAC, so I don't feel an inclination to bypass it at this time. @invalid: I could ask Schiit about the signal loss iss...

I appreciate all the responses. Some went over my head. Thanks to millercarbon, in particular, for answering my question in a direct and non-technical manner.
Please clear up my confusion re: meaning of "balanced" !
Thanks for your responses.@russ69:Yes-- this is the distinction that concerns me-- connecting a "fully balanced" component to one that merely has XLR connectors.  I read the Wikipedia article, but am still unclear regarding my question about conne...
Need a DAC Recommendation.
I wouldn't buy any DAC based solely on someone else's recommendation, simply because there is so much variation in sonics from one to another, not to mention variations in person taste.  This makes the process of buying used more challenging. If yo...
Inexpensive, neutral-to-warm sounding SS headphone amp?
Hi soix--Thanks for your response. I've upped my budget to $400, so now I could afford a Jotunheim 2, for example.Anything else come to mind???
Rank the tweaks, geeks!
I don't have a room dedicated to audio. Also, I'm very constrained re: speaker placement.  RE: cables, I've upgraded to all my components but found that upgrading amp and digital cables has had greatest impact. I've tried a variety of footers and ...
Jazz Music Question
"This genre or era (Basically early1950s to early 1960s) is classified as "Hard Bop". This genre evolved from the "Be Bop" of the mid to late 1940s. There’s a ton of superb musicians and recordings to explore".Excellent advice. Be aware that a goo...
Lay Off the Newbies!
@td_dayton:"@stuartk i agree with that, which is why it really doesn't matter what a jerk says - often they're just at war with themselves and take it out on someone they think they're better than. if a few rude comments puts someone off from purs...

@td_dayton:"... at some point the "wah they're being too rude. what happened to Civility??"crowd has to get over themselves..." "Sometimes replies can betray insecurities revealing an unexamined life".
