Jazz for aficionados @mahgister RE: "Extraordinary Sarangi", when I listen to such players, it feels like they are playing my nerves for strings !
Jazz for aficionados Please do not forget Charles Tolliver, with the likes of Jackie Mclean and also as a leader!
Jazz for aficionados "Blame It On My Youth" is my favorite Art Farmer recording.
Albums you do not get...a plea for help and understanding @frogman Wise counsel. . . and ( speaking strictly for myself, of course. ;o) ), not so easy to follow.
Albums you do not get...a plea for help and understanding @16f4 No, you are most certainly not "imagining" the Dead's off-key singing. Whether it was unlistenably so, all the time, depends upon one's tastes.
Albums you do not get...a plea for help and understanding @bdp24 Personally I love what a well-positioned dim. chord can contribute but tension and resolution is a major aspect in my listening enjoyment. This is not necessarily true for everyone.
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged. @russ69 I share your frustration and appreciate how you framed the question but I don't believe this is a gulf that can be bridged.
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged. @djones51 I've yet to listen to a component that measured well and sounded bad, Measurements, presumably, are objective. How "good" something sounds is highly subjective and furthermore, susceptible to a host of variables.

" Nope-- I read pro and user reviews to get an idea of various DACs' sonic profiles then based on that, I ...
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same? @jssmith Why not simply take the car for a test drive?
Jays Audio cdt2 mk3 burn in and user experiences @chuckie My Jay's is still breaking in. After roughly 200 hours, it sounds smooth, not clinical but it doesn't sound tonally "rich", as some users have reported. Perhaps that will still occur. One change it's brought that's not welcome is vocal...
Hegel or a Modwright The Hegel is a great amp but if the tube sound is what you crave, the Hegel is not going to scratch that itch.
How do you judge audio components and speakers? @dave_b That's reassuring. I'll seriously consider the dbx option, then. Thanks.
How do you judge audio components and speakers? @dave_b Thanks for your response. I don't have any pro audio expertise so I'm not sure what sort of learning curve might be involved were I to get a dbx unit. Have to look into that. The price is certainly appealing, though and I've had good exp...
How do you judge audio components and speakers? @dave_b I'm curious why you went with dbx rather than say, one of the Schiit eqs. I'm contemplating moving up to Schiit's top of the line Loki Max but perhaps I ought to consider dbx as well. Which model did you buy? |
