The revolution has begun! I love the Peachtree gear I use now right out of the box for cost and performance with BlueOS and Nova 300 DAC. Most bros around on site here don’t yet have flip phone…
When someone tells you it's a $40,000 amp, does it sound better? yes
Low buzzing through speaks On that note; I have been waiting for this to come up, I live in SoCal in the SDG&E jurisdiction just by the way. I have never had a type AB Amp that didn't buzz and now I have a type D that is quiet as as a a night full of stars for no appar...
What are/were the best sounding cheap components you have ever had? This is great stuff but what it makes me want to weep for is all the stuff in the last 50 years I've either left behind or given away to kids, step kids, grandkids, storage spaces never saw again and etc. Klipsch speakers, Tannoy speakers, old sub...
Magnepan .7 Alternatives It's been said many times before: Harbeth. I use the Bluesound Node with a outboard DAC, configure Bluesound to disable it's DAC/clock when doing so.
When a budget speaker is preferred to a high end one... Never happened to me; only so called engineers" here about tend to think they can always build it better & cheaper signed- the inspector
Whats playing on your system today? 1-31-91 JGB
Upgrading Changing out cables is fun and easy so I do it sometimes.
Your thoughts on selling Here is the problem as I see it with this whole "hobby"; Unless one dwells with the 1% and can truck in really fine equipment through the years the old used components that I paid top dollar for are worth almost nothing now. At best pennies on the...
Why do so many people have problems with bass? I learned to love my Bass listening to Lesh and the Dead In the 70's live- I saw the "Wall of Sound" maybe 10 times and you could hear a drumstick break 50 yards away. The watts was like 50, 000 and the system itself was famously built in the fir...
hearing loss and amp choices Honestly this has been the most informative thread for me ever almost here. I am near the end of litigation with work to cover hearing loss and of course in the ensuing discussions with Dr.'s et al. my info has been sold and I have been inundated ...
How accurate are cable descriptions for your system? Cables are fun! Change 'em out- just be you...
Speakers: Anything really new under the sun? Very true. Nothing really new at any price point tho I still like a standard Brit Box as much as anything. All else is window dressing.
Tiny Room (6' x 9') speaker advice I have a 10 x 10' room by 11' almost square and I use the Harbeth 30.1's and a Peachtree 300 (because it's all I can afford): No sub, I've considered one but I really don't like them the ones I've had anyway. Sound is good, Loud when I want it, go...
Totally overwhelmed (speakers under $5k) Get the biggest Harbeths you can afford- I tell everybody that. And a streamer and a 2 channel Amp. |
