Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Jeez, you guys are still at it. Before I get into a lengthy discourse on cartridge construction, mods, and general enlightenment, anyone with a Technics 205 II ought to try it with the phase reversed - although this will throw a wrench into your r...
How to restart tube amp and pre in boxes for 2yrs "as AC line voltage goes up current draw goes down and vice versa"This is most definately wrong - read up on ohm's law and do the math.
VPI motor - upgrade to 300 rpm? I posted a pic, just follow the link . The brass flywheel comes from an HO scale model train motor, and the rest is rigged. It works.http://trade.audioasylum.com/ca/wtb/listing/Turntables/VPI/Scout/pulley/43555
VPI motor - upgrade to 300 rpm? I have not made an unbiased comparison between the 300 and 600 rpm motors, but years ago when I looked up specs for the so-called upgrade, I noticed the 600 has twice the torque - that's quite a difference. Of course, there is probably a price to ...
AKG P8e cartridge coils are known to go bad ? Lewm - check your email, many thanks.
AKG P8e cartridge coils are known to go bad ? If anyone has an extra 'good' body, a response will be greatly appreciated!
AKG P8e cartridge coils are known to go bad ? Your responses are appreciated, but I specifically stated coil failure i.e. 'open coils', where a break in the wire occurs or the soldering of the wire to the rear pin depletes. Googling turned up more than a few complaints to this with AKG cartri...
Who is using a Denon 160 on P3 without VTA change? The 160 I use to have had an unusual SRA, and required a considerable drop on the rear end to get it at the '0' degree perpendicularity. Yours may be different, but check first.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Remember - as with all filters, there is phase shift involved, and this is audible, also. Another theoretical advantage to mc or very low inductance.
Review: Audio-Technica USA AUDIO TECHNICA AT-20SS. Cartridge Dave - can you elaborate on the difference between at20ss and at15ss. I thought they were the same, except the at20ss cartridge is hand picked for better specs.
What MC for $1,000-$2,000? I am a long time AC2 owner, and understand your objection. The 103r is a good cartridge, needs alot of break-in on the suspension, needs a heavy arm, but brother - it will not sound like the AC2, which sounds alive in comparison.Looking at the Nak...
Anyone successful in dealing with Tinnitus? Be careful Slaw - I have both also, and made the mistake of over compensating, and using earplugs too often. It made my hearing even more hyper.I went back to gradual, regular exposures to the 'real world' unless I knew they were excessive and the...
Monster Cable Alpha - 1 There were earlier (gold) and later (black) production of these models. I believe the only difference is the cantilever - 2 has sapphire, 1 has boron. The gold's are hyperellipticals and black's are line contact.
