Upgrade Opinions, Thorens vs VPI
Harry modded the arm, Michael Fremer introduced it right after his Prime review, then yesterday on Facebook, Mat said that there’s no way they are going to offer the mod, because drilling the 3D arm carries too much risk of damage......general con...
Upgrade Opinions, Thorens vs VPI
Raymond,What I am saying is that if someone has said they have a 3K budget, and some of the potential solutions is to throw money at an old table, in hopes of making it a better table, then who am I to say they can't???I'm noone.......But:If someo...
Upgrade Opinions, Thorens vs VPI
Honing a person's woodworking skills should not be spent on a turntable.......leave that for the custom rack.....Noone can build a prime, nor something that would compete head to head with a 3D tonearm, and be that the fact, the whole pride of own...
Upgrade Opinions, Thorens vs VPI
The Classic 1 would obliterate a Thorens regardless of arm......I've owned both, currently have a VPI HR-XCurrently, the greatest bang for buck in the VPI line would be the Prime....which for very little $ over the C1 would give you:3D Arm (same a...
Help Picking a turntable
I agree that most people don't "start" with a megabuck tt   or phono stage for that matter.....I got the audio bug in the 1980s hearing a first generation Oracle Delphi in an audio shop, combined with ARC gear and Acoustic 2x2 used loudspeakers......

Wilson Sophia 1 vs vandersteen 2ce
gdnrbob,me and any others can comment on anything we want, anytime we want, irregardless of someone’s purchase or lack thereof......be exact, we can even post on things people haven't asked about at all LOL
Wilson Sophia 1 vs vandersteen 2ce
It is quite possible (and is the case w/ my post) that people are NOT trying to throw a monkey wrench in his purchase, but simply read his original question and hit respond without reading every single post between the original and their reply.......
Looking for speakers under 30" tall.
So many considerations beyond height, but if height was primaryconsideration, I would consider:Vandersteen 1C @ around 3' tall....Ryan Audio R610 on an 18" stand by others, for less than 3'It's hard to get me excited about dynamic loudspeakers.......
Wilson Sophia 1 vs vandersteen 2ce
I've owned 3 versions of the 2s and have heard Wilson Sophiason multiple occasions, although they were always 2 or 3s,not the 1s.....With the Belles, I would stay with Vandersteen........The only significant upgrade you could make over the Vandys ...
