Sanders 10e
pokey,Again, the manufacturer says they have a tiny sweet spot and that it is intentional, to minimize room interaction......Also, if they do not have a tiny sweet spot then perhaps you could explain to me why Sanders is the only exhibitor at any ...
Sanders 10e
Your assessment differs even from Roger Sander' characterization of the speakers....Taking the side wall reflections out of the equation equals TINY SWEET SPOT....PERIOD..If you are hearing wonderful in a 2 foot window, then you would frankly find...
Sanders 10e
The Sanders speakers are not head in a vice, they are head in a quarter inch scale vice......if you so much as shoo a fly away from your face, you're completely out of the sweet spot and the stage collapses and the sound turns to a shadow of it's ...
Best tube preamp ever
I've heard most of the top tube pres.  I have had the Convergent Audio Techologies SL1 Renaissance w/ Phono for about 4 years. It won't be leaving for a very long time.......probably when I do
Bryston or Pass Labs
I've owned the Pass Labs X350.5 and Bryston 7BSST2's and now Bryston 28BSST2's.I prefer Bryston overall
Vandersteens, PSB or something else?
I actually have heard most Vandersteens to date........The 5s and 7s have always left me flat in show conditions but the Quatros and Treos have always sounded consistently wonderful.....
Vandersteens, PSB or something else?
Have you actually heard Vandy subs with Magnepans?    Where?     Ive heard them    along with JLs and RythmikIf you want more bass from a rbbon    you get a bigger ribbonAs to euphonic coloration, I honestly have no idea what you are talking about...
Vandersteens, PSB or something else?
I owned three pairs of 2s, then went to Revel Studio 2s, then went to Magnepan 3.7s.  For the size space that you have, I don't think 3.7s would suffice, but 20.7s would.....  I would not pair Magnepans with subs....Vandersteen represents good val...
Magnepan 3.7 - 3.7i owners need help please
I've heard 3.6s but not owned them, they always sounded veiled to me......I have owned 3.7s for 3 1/2 years......I will say they need at least half a thousand hours to truly loosen up, and background music won't cut it.....In my experience, 4' off...
What direction is VPI headed?
I think VPI has made a definite turn to a model for volume......versusthe bespoke style company they were before.....Gone are the Classics, the HR-X, even the Classic Direct. In their place are Avengers in various iterations, which is fine, but it'...
Just retired and want to get back to vinyl listening
Out of the the turntables considered, the VPI will be impossible to top.  The cartridge Id partner a prime with would be an Ortofon 2m black which would be very friendly with the MM inputs on many integrateds.  Soundsmith has great moving iron car...
Beveridge speakers-does anyone still use them?
Heard a pair in late 80s.  I recall them as imaging monsters but very politeI think honestly a modern pair of Magnepan 3.7s would outdistancethem by a tremendous margin and likely for a lot less$$
The Most Realistic Speaker Technology?
There are a lot of speakers that will sound great in one area or another, but in my experience, it has been very difficult for a dynamic speakerto duplicate the illusion of instruments in an acoustic space versus a true dipole.  I have owned limit...
Are the folks at Vandersteen ok?
RV is a savant at what he does.........I've owned various versions of 2sand a pair of 5s for a time.....My phone calls to him have always been the same: He's annoyed, shortand extremely curt. It's a well known fact of audio lore, and nothing he did...
What's been your turntable ownership over the years?
