Upgrade from TW Acustic Raven AC-3 to what?
First off, let me state that I do not own a TW Acustic Raven, nor do I profess to know its particular sonic character. But over the years I have come to realise how critical proper set-up is. Also, please don't take this as a suggestion that you y...
Has anyone heard the VPI Classic yet
Nolitan: I have an Aries 2, but perhaps I can help. Does the pulley on the motor (where you attach the belt) have a set screw? Have you attempted to tighten it with one of the Allen wrenches that came with the table? As far as damping fluid, it go...
Majik Buss - Power Correction/EMI/RFI Filter
Ozzy: I am surprised to read that you were less than thrilled with the Majik Buss. Two quick questions (1)How many hours did you burn the thing in for? From experience, my unit (which I have since upgraded to the UberBuss) took at least 100 hours ...

Majik Buss - Power Correction/EMI/RFI Filter
Although I already own a power conditioner, a PS Audio P500, my system was plagued with rather inconsistent playback. I listen mostly on weeknights and weekends and the performance of my system would vary from session to session. Some evenings the...
Vpi vs. TW Acustic
I'm not sure there is any utility to threads like these. While I own a VPI Aries 2, it has seen many upgrades any there have been so many revisions to peripherals, that any comparison becomes virtually impossible. For instance, even if you were to...
Starting an Analog front end - Rowland?
Raquel: You are correct in that the Rhea compared to a solid state phono preamp is somewhat noisy, but with the right tubes (I use Telefunken and Siemens), the noise can be reduced to a minimum. However, in exchange for that bit of tube rush, one ...
Starting an Analog front end - Rowland?
I can offer you this...I have an souped up Aries 2 with motor/flywheel combo, periphery ring, and center weight. I had the Synergy IIi and an Aesthetix Rhea. I upgraded to the Coherence II and bought the Cadence with the idea that I would pit it a...
Mint LP a no go – now what?
What makes you think the VPI jig is in some way deficient? I have set my Aries II with the jig and I cannot imagine achieving any better performance. I realise that as good as I have my rig sounding there may be greater improvement to be had, but ...
Looking for tabletop ideas for VPI 16.5RCM
JohnBrown I like the FÖRHÖJA model. Definitely a contender. Not sure the spacing of the shelves is right, but it even allows for storage of "to be cleaned" records. I'd say you set the bar pretty high for less than $100. I'm not afraid to go highe...

Theo Initially I did my scrubbing on the machine, but I found that the back and forth motion caused some play in the mechanism. I really would prefer to scrub off to the side. I use a 12" x 12" cork tile for this.

Thorman: I have read horror stories of melting LPs and ruined labels. I am sure you can perfect the process, but at least for the time being, I will stick to the more conservative route.
CD has laid back and uninvolving sound
I have an Accustis Arts Drive I and an MBL 1511F DAC. I could not be happier. In fact, so good is the synergy, that I hestitate to "upgrade" to the MBL 1521A transport. Perhaps you should switch to the MBL DAC.
New Blue Note Reissues
I found this on the Steve Hoffman forum:I first heard about this new LP reissue series from Ron McMaster a few weeks ago when I wrote to ask him about Lee Morgan's "The Sidewinder" analog master tape. Ron told me that he actually had that analog m...
