Am I the only one to opt-out on the Sopra 2's? Before I purchased my Sopra no2's, I auditioned them at Overture in DE using a Hegal then a Macintosh Integrated amplifier. They were in 2 different rooms, each well damped and setup properly. I wasn't impressed with them in the smaller room usi...
Warm-up time for amps and preamps I've got a Simaudio 700i amplifier and if I unplug it from the outlet it takes several days before it sounds like magic again. Using the standby switch on the front panel only mutes the inputs and turns off the front panel display. The amp stays...
Decided to change my cd player, suggestions please? I was in the market for a new CD Player last year after my Cambridge Audio went south. I’ve got a Bryston BDA-1 DAC and tried using my Oppo as a transport but it just didn’t sound anywhere near as good as the Cambridge Transport and Bryston DAC.Wh...

The King Of... Who Cares?Disco?..it's not really music.
CD players that make for a great transport No, the Neo 260 has the same transport as the 650D and 750D but uses a scaled down less expensive DAC that sounds pretty good but my Bryston BDA-1 sounds more dynamic. The Neo260 can be ordered without the DAC as a transport only for $2000 or $300...
CD players that make for a great transport It's a little over your budget but after trying several CD transports with my BDA-1 DAC, I found the Simaudio Neo 260D sounded far better than my Oppo, Cambridge or Emotiva CD player transports. All were compared using SPDIF cables with the Brysto...
Integrated Match to Focal Spora No. 2 Erik, thanks for the info. It's interesting to say the least how part cost plays into the design of fairly expensive speakers. Although it's beyond my technical skills to attempt any modifications to my Sopra speaker crossover, it's good to know w...
Integrated Match to Focal Spora No. 2 Erik, I've searched extensively for info on Focal X-Over's with little success. Any info you've got would be appreciated before I discect my Sopras to see what's inside. I don't seem to have any difficulty with their impedance using my 700i amp. I...
Am I the only one to opt-out on the Sopra 2's? I've heard very expensive speakers totally fall apart in a bad room. Everything in audio seems to be co-dependent.
Simaudio Moon 600i or Bryston B135SST with Focal 836W Prestige Speakers. I use a 700i to drive Focal Sopra 2's. The sound is very well balanced with sweet highs, very dimensional and tight bass. Expensive but worth the investment. BTW, the 600 & 700i are built like a tank and will last a long, long time.
Integrated Match to Focal Spora No. 2 I would expect whatever Dealer you choose should offer a modest (10%) discount provided you've got a good relationship with them on past purchases. These speakers are HOT right now and selling quite well so don't expect huge discounts this soon. T...
Focal Sopra 2/3 vs Harbeth SHL5 Plus The Sopras don't have the same "British Monitor" sound of Harbeth. Listen to both before you decide which one suits your taste, music genre and electronics. If detail, sound-staging and the "musician in the room" factor are your thing, the Sopras ...
Enjoying My New Focal Sopra No2's Toneranger....I didn't try the Simaudio 600i, so I can't comment on how it would work with the Sopra2. I have a relatively small listening room, but a huge space (cu. ft.) to fill due to a cathedral ceiling and loft above my listening area. My 700...
Enjoying My New Focal Sopra No2's Toneranger....just wait a few months, they’ll sound so much better you’ll think they’re different speakers. The break-in will amaze you with the added detail, smoothness, and way more of the 3D holographic magic. Wonderful speakers !!!Enjoy !!! |
