ZYX cartridge and advice
LP#9 is truly a must for fine cartridges, as are all of Record Research's products. I'm not a paid endorser, just an extremely satisfied customer/user.
Do reel to reel tapes fade over time...
Brianw, cool...would love to hear them!
Meadowlark Blue Heron 2 vs Wilson WP7s/Vandesteen
Meadowlark and Vandersteen, along with Thiel, are the only time and phase accurate speakers available today. Wilsons lack accurate midrange IMHO and are very strong and dynamic in the bass, which is why so many are drawn to them. Save your $$$ and...
Do reel to reel tapes fade over time...
In fact, solar radiation neutralizes the magnetic orientation of the particles on audio tape media over time so that there is always a slight erase process in effect constantly. Eventually all audio tapes will cease to have any recorded informatio...

Tonearm cable recommendations
Harmonic Technologies Silver Phono interconnect is what i have been using for a year now and I am very happy. This company uses (and manufactures it's own) single crystal silver and copper wire that it uses in all its products. Much depth and air ...
Do You Remember Your First Music Purchase?
My first REAL RECORD was "Cheap Thrills" by Big Brother and the Holding Company. I was so excited because it was a real, honest rock and roll recording and finally I could throw my inherited Cowsills and Monkees records away.
ZYX cartridge and advice
It is hard for me to imagine why anyone would ever trade in a Koetsu, especially rebuilt by Koetsu, for another brand. The cartridge you own is a unique work of art that can be rebuilt into an Urushi or higher if you desire and will only IMPROVE w...
Need help picking budget Turntable
I owned both a P3 and P25 before graduating to a VPI Aries II. I can heartily recommend the P3 as a starter table. You won't be disappointed with the results. Just be sure to choose the cartridge carefully, such as a Benz Silver or Shure V15.
Vandersteen-like "In-between" speakers
I agree with Sidssp's suggestion. Go with what you know works and the subs will get you most of the way to the 5As. Also the Thiel and Meadowlark suggestions are good ones but if you went with Thiel CS6 (my speakers) you might need to upgrade the ...
Best amp for studio 100v3, Rotel , Anthem or other
I owned both Bryston 4BST and 7BST amp when I lived and worked in Montreal for a couple of years. They powered the original Paradigm 100 (V1). For the money, and in Canada, I don't think you can find a better amp for the money. Either the 4 or the...

Best cable to use with meridian 508.24?
I use Harmonic Technology Prosilway II XLR balanced ICs with my 508.24 into a Krell KCT with excellent results. Very evenly balanced overall with great air and superb dynamics and tight, extended bass.
Power Cords Snake Oil ??
Hey, has anyone tried direct wiring their system components into the house wiring and bypassed all use of so called detachable power cords at the wall and the component? Also, removed all circuit breakers as well between the power company and the ...
