platinum audio solo's How about the Infinity 2.6p's. Audio Advisor has them for $999. The best $1k speaker I've ever heard. And well worth the $2k retail price, to my ears.
What makes your Home Theater system A friend of mine were at his place one evening and we got a little brave and got 119db out of his sub w/o a bit of distortion that we could hear. We had our ears right next to the sub. Man, was that loud, for a second ot two.
Subwoofer problem Many processors don't send a signal to the sub. I friend of mine has the top of the line Yamaha and hers doesn't send any thing to the sub in the mode you speak of.
Sub crossover frequency I find 60-70HZ to be about right in my home. But I see nothinh wrong with 80 hertz. If that is low as your mains will go. Have you ever read or heard of Richard Vandersteens take on x-overs ?
Replacing Vandy 2CEs w/ Monitors--Can It Be Done? As silly as this may sound, you did say you'd like full bodied sound, and if you can't find a pr. of Platinums, try a pr. of the Polk LSi's, such as the model 9.I have a lady friend, that got hers from Crutchfield. Hey, they pay return shipping if...
Average Price Spent for Speakers Although I'm single I want good looking gear. None of the black, mindless looking boxes. Too many companies nowadays are putting a lot of thought into the appearance of their products. From past experience I'd say the majority of people spend aroun...
Speakers to match a CARY SLI-80 IC's and spkr. cable will only give a minimum improvement at best. Save for a sub or a pair of them. Remember you can put the sub wherever it sounds best to you. Very easy to do. When/if you get a sub, position it at your listening position and wa...
Vandersteen 2w sub hookup Go to the Vandersteen website, you'll learn a lot there. There are diffent versions of the 2w sub. The older/better one doesn't use a xover configured as stated by the previous post. It sense's signal from the speaker outputs of the amp that is dri...
Replacing sound proofing in cabniets There are formula's for the very thing your wanting to do.The best investment you could make, would be to purchase the 'The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook'.If you line the walls of the speakers with a dampening product, that will cut down on external...
$ 1,000 A/V receiever recomendations... A little side note for the uninformed. Although Yamaha produces their own processing chips, they have been doing such, for far longer than anyone else on this planet. They have the experience and that goes a long, long way. This is old hat for yamaha.
Home audio drivers vs. car audio drivers I read and reread the 'Speaker Design Cookbook 10 years ago and reread it 'til I understood it. For anyone that believe's you can't get great tuneful bass out of subs design toward cars, then you don't or won't understand the Cookbook.I've forgott...
Are Apogee Scintilla Speakers worth purchasing In MY opinion, mine, the finest midband to ever be reproduced is thru the Apogee Stages. Other Apogees do many things better than the Stages, but the Stages have the finest midband ever to be produced thru a speaker. The Stages don't have nearly a...
Home audio drivers vs. car audio drivers Ignorance is bliss,I'm told. But I know from personal experience, back around '96-'97 Soundstream made an amp that was designed by Krell and to their standards. I took the amp apart once to see if it was up to high standards of home audio and bele...
Sub recommendations for HT If you haven't purchased a sub yet, what I gathered from talking to Mike/owner of ACI, is their 'Force' sub, $750 is the same sound quality as the Titan II with lower output. I was willing to spend on the Titan, but Mike suggested the 'Force' for ...
Any body hear the new improved Merlins at CES? Is this the speaker with two drivers and in need of stands? |
