Which are the most versatile high end speakers
I agree with Sdcampbell, in any respective price range, look no further than Vandersteen Audio. No hype, just pure music. I also have the 3A Signatures.
The best speaker you ever heard?
Overall, Vandersteen 5's.
What is causing the hum?
Hope this helps! Dealing with Hum in Counterpoint Gear Lose the Ground Loop All Counterpoint gear was manufactured with three-prong AC cords. This is for safety: if something were to fail in a piece of gear, potentially dangerous currents would g...
Denon 103D w/ Systemdek IIX?Rega RB300?
I also own a Linn LP12 and have owned or heard all the above cartridges. I've also owned the Denon DL103S and DL103D. Very good cartridges in their day and reasonable by todays standards too. I've owned MC's, MI's and MM's. I replaced an older MC ...
Is there a better deal than the AT OC-9 at 200?
Hi, My choice would CLEARLY be the Clearaudio Aurum Beta S MKII.I currently have it installed in a Well Tempered arm on a Linn LP12. In comparison with a Grado Sonata a friend brought over, the construction and sound were very different. The Grado...
A good cartridge between 300.00 and 400.00
I also own a Linn LP12 and have owned or heard all the above cartridges. I've also owned the Denon DL103S and DL103D. Very good cartridges in their day and reasonable by todays standards too. I've owned MC's, MI's and MM's. I replaced an older MC ...
ARC SP6 or 9; Audible Illusions M3A;Couterpoint 5
I have a Counterpoint SA3000, fully modified by Mike Elliot (orig designer), and have to say it is clearly better than all the above mentioned preamps in every regard. However, it took almost $3,000.00 to make it so. It seams that a large part of ...
Cartridge Help with LP-12/Ekos
As a long time owner of an LP12, I've used numerous cartridges; both MC & MM. I'm currently using a Clearaudio Arum Beta S (new lead body version) with results so great that I'm not going to replace it with another MC. The dynamics, detail, im...
Theta Data Basic Mk II
I'm using the Data Basic with Pro Basic II transport. I've tried several digital cables and ended up using the Iluminations D60 for a while. I purchased a Stealth Varidig Premier silver digital cable and after extensive listening, I decided on it ...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
I've had several different Vandersteen speakers for 15 years. I've owned their 3A Signatures for about a year, upgraded from the 3A's, and could easily hang onto them for life. However, I will eventually own the model 5's before I quite due to the...
Vandersteen 3A sig VS B W Nautilus 804
I agree with the above statements. The Vandersteen 3A Signatures are a no brainer and have no competition anywhere near their respective price range. If the music really matters to you, the decision is simple; Vandersteen Audio.
Burn In CD s Demag CD s
I also own and use the XLO CD and it works effectively on my Theta Digital separates. I can't speak for the other mfg's out there but several of my friends own, use and are happy with the XLO! Regards.
VANDERSTEEN 2ce signatures?
I've owned two pairs of model 2's and currently own a pair of 3A Sigs. As impartial as I can be, you won't find any speakers that are as well balanced as these for the price. Many others costing much more are not as good. Not the sexiest looking b...
Stealth VARIDIG Digital Interconnect
I agree with the positive feedback as well. I compared the Varidig with my Illuminations D60 and found the Varidig to be more extended and neutral. They were close but I found the Kimber to be slightly sweet as opposed to the total neutrality of t...
VANDERSTEENS vs. THIELS
Either pair of speakers would be a great choice; however, after owning two generations of models 2's and now the proud owner of the 3A Signatures, I prefer the sound of the Vandersteens over thiels. They are so musical and right, you can listen to...
